Idea help with recurring bassline fails =C

ok so ive been experimenting with new basslines and transitioning from house -> hands up / commercial trance over last couple years and obviously have had to learn alot of new techniques, i know theres alot of knowledgeable gurus here and I'm not afraid to suck it up and ask for help : D

so i keep encountering the same problem with this bassline that honest to god not sure what i tweaked or parameters got modified (i think from ROM SID expansion) but i found one i really liked albeit a bit obnoxious, i saved that sucker and start with it on new projects.

there's just one problem ... after sliding down more than 2 steps it begins to sound super distort (in a bad way) and sort of "bellow" (not sure if thats the right usage but im going with it) so here's a SS of what's going on and audio prev

all the notes and steps adhere to the key signature, but as you can clearly here ass the bassline steps down the result is pretty awful happened on more than one song with this patch what am i missing here?

thanks in advance for any help

I think the problem maybe is that because that bass synth uses samples, it doesn't quite sound as good when the sample goes above/below certain transpose ranges.

That bass you like is just a standard Moog wet bass.

So rather than using a sample-based synth for the bass, perhaps try a Moog emulation VST or any other analog emulation that is not based on PCM samples.

eg. Try Minimonsta, tyrelln6 or Symptohm PE. or get hardware (a Minitaur! ) to do your bassline.

Some people swear by Trilian. I don't know how comprehensive their sampling is but if they sampled every note of a Moog bass synth then it should sound good on any keyboard range.

You should use Nexus for leads and pads, but find something stronger for the bass.

i get what you're saying and i think you're right. i didn't know that nexus used 'sampling' in that respect but i think i understand what you mean about the range where things 'start to sound like crap' when you change octave. I will def research the vsti u reccommended (it's a vsti not vst, right?) and try to make a new moog-ish bass thx again for ur reply very helpful
