In terms of new functions, basically nothing.
But in terms of refinement, everything is new on the latest techs. New motor, spindle, bearings, chassis, electronics, tonearm, wiring, pitch pot...it's basically a new turntable, but it's still the same principle of 150 years ago where a needle reproduces sounds from a groove cut in to a disk.
If you think about, smartphones now are really no different from my first smartphone in 2003 which had a color screen, apps, data, gps...it's incredibly minor increases in functionality beyond the jump from a basic GSM phone to smartphone.
technics did that with the 1200, and really you don't get massive jumps in the original tech, just refinements.
The only thing I really feel they missed was some kind of build in DVS, like a constant data stream protocol (shit, they could have just used SMPTE) from the platter.
That would have put serato and traktor out of business overnight.
