Name your top 3 musical artists (EDM, non-EDM, whatever!)

Figured I'd start a new thread. Name your top 3, non-EDM musical artists and why

1. Elvis - He was the first bit of music I got to listen and enjoy as far back as I can remember. I dress up as Elvis for Halloween and other special occasions too. If channel surfing on the radio and I come across an Elvis song, I stop and sing along. Hell, my wife and I eloped in Vegas and had Elvis walk her down the isle to "only fools rush in".

2. The Doors - I used to hate them. My dad (who grew up during that time period) used to blast old 60's rock on Saturday mornings while we all had to do chores. He'd be air guitarring and rocking out while we were slaving away around the house instead of watching morning cartoons. So yes! I hated The Doors and all 60's rock. It wasn't until I got to college and started experimenting did I finally "get it". I listened to their music on my own and understood why so many people appreciate their music.

3. DEPECHE MODE!!!! Currently my favorite band in the WORLD!!! I've always appreciated their fast pace sound. And the first time hearing "Enjoy the Silence" on MTV!?!?! HOLY SHIT!!! But still never a huge fan, just an appreciator of their music and style. It wasn't until a few years ago (maybe 2013) did my buddy who is a HUGE fan introduce me to watching their old concerts on Youtube. Specifically the Devotional Tour. This was the tour that Dave Gahan was into a lot of Grunge music and was heavily sedated on Heroin. He was basically living that rock star life and actually OD'd. Watching their live shows made me realize that DM was doing all the electronic music that we listen to today. As my buddy put it, before there was EDM, there was DM. Heavy bass lines, weird techno sounds, melodic synths. It was a game changer for me. All those years of appreciating music culminated into the epiphany that they were the foundation of everything I love today. Every (old school) EDM artists attributes their foundation to DM. They are the GREATEST!!!

so that's me!

yes... I'm bored at work.

1. Sting: IMO, the greatest living musician right now. I've always been a big fan of The Police. I was lucky enough to catch their reunion tour in 2007 and to this day, it remains the greatest concert I've been to. AS a musician, there is nothing Sting can't do

2. David Grohl: the 2nd greatest living musician right now. The guy is such a performer. His knowledge might be 2nd to none out there. The guy very versatile

3. Eddie Van Halen: Jimi may have pioneered how the guitar is played, but EvH revolutionized the way the guitar is played today

oh man! Great picks yo! And spot on descriptions. I have to agree that Sting and The Police are fucking amazing. I've been listening to a lot of their stuff (on Pandora) lately. It's just really good music that both my daughter and I can listen to.

Dave Grohl - yes! I'm not a big fan of Nirvana nor the Foo Fighters but I can't deny their talent/s and respect them in all counts. The fact that the man finished a show with a broken leg shows his commitment to his music and his fans. He's one of the few guys/bands still putting out legit rock music with no need for a laptop on stage.

Armand Van Helden - I always digged him

High Contrast - I got big into liquid Drum and Bass sometime around 2010, he was one of the first artist i heard in the Genre.

London Elektricity - Pretty much the same reason as above. I'm now a huge fan of his label Hospital Records. I hope to go to the UK for one of their events.
