Best/Worst Era for Dance Music

I'm going to say the late 90's early 2000's. We had this transition going from trance to this darker progressive trance/house sound. The happy, melodic stuff started getting lame and producers and dj's were looking to take listeners down the rabbit hole. Quite a fun time for me.

I'd say the worst era started in mid 2010's. You could see (what I considered) electro house altering into what would be considered EDM and it never seemed to phase out. Since then, it's been a shit show. We still have the underground sound out there but even that has become popular.

I mean... yeah

It's pretty safe to go with the majority on a site like TranceAddict to say the late 90s and early 2000's were the best years for trance. That's a given. We'll always love and cherish that moment in time.

However..

As I've gotten older, I try to steer away from the "back in my day" shaking my fist at the newer crowds, and really embrace it. No, I don't think the scene or the sound will ever be as exquisite as we had it...

BUT

i am happy the scene is still alive. I am happy that trance is still alive. I am happy that there's a nu skool camp of kids to embrace the sound and take it further. I think (and am hopeful) a few of these kids will look to the past to understand the sacred ground they're standing on.

So, answer to your question, the best era for dance music is obviously the 70s when disco started it all

This is actually a great answer. I tend to forget that the experiences today for the kids are the same I had many moons ago when I was a youngster.
