I watched "The Witch" a couple of days ago. It was a interesting period piece/"horror" mashup. Very nice attention to detail, and some great cinematography with lots of natural lighting.
I also picked up the 20th anniversary remastered release of "Independence Day" on Blu-ray for ten bucks. Cheesy as hell, and riddled with plot holes, that's still one of my favorite "just fun" movies of all time. I hope the sequel is just as fun.

I watched "Standoff". Enjoyed it and think Laurence Fishburne did great.
Looking out for the new Independence Day as well

10 Cloverfield Lane, cool movie, better than I expected. Goodman plays well.

Yeah Goodman was godly in this, such a presence. I also enjoyed the cheesy ending. It's hard to make those kind of "twists" work.

I agree, I really liked the 'twist'. My colleague didn't though, but he's looking forward to Sky Sharks even more than I am

I saw this maybe a month or so back. I agree it's a nice period piece with great cinematography.
I didn't really find it that scary though. I thought it was gonna be a lot scarier after some of the early scenes. I thought that was a little disappointing.

Is it supposed to be scary in that way though? Some really in your face themes in the film, and tension aplenty.

A lot of the reviews I read, which were very positive reviews, went on and on about how scary it was, etc. So I expected a little more "scare" in the traditional sense.

I guess it depends on the kind of scares one likes. I found the atmosphere was super tense and creepy, the film definitely did not need cheap thrills to get the ole psyche stirring. Not for me anyway. Even though I'm not religious I've always found horror movies with religious themes the most unnerving.
