Hello there fello TAers and personal friends alike!!! how are we??!!
surprised that you see me in this thread?? im guessing you are!!!
ok jolz if your reading this, please dont move it to where it rightfully belongs. Reason being, asking strangers what im about to ask these guys would only lead to me being scoulded.... where i know these guys will help me cos they know me! fair enough reason? hopein so
ok guys!!! yas all know me and how i am with music full stop! It's been my intensions for a long time to learn about sound, learn about production programs, learn about mastering and start the long journey of understanding "keys" and simple music rules, ie. what the notes are and how they move along the keyboard, etc.
In the end, i have figured that i need to finaly kick my own ass and push myself to bump up djing and music's priority higher in my life to the point of dedication! because hey!!! you guys are living (and succeding) proof of what dedication leads to!
SO i can see myself in the near future when im back at home, further surching and learning about Ableton and about how the use of laptops works in a DJ set. Ofcorse, Blinky comes to mind! because thats how he plays.... LIVE!!!!! so the pieces of the puzzle are coming together now, where before i just thought "wow, blinky has alot of hardware that I've got no bloody idea what any of it is or what it does... and why is he extreeeemly focused on the laptop... what is it doing and what is he doing????"
i guess what im asking is, if any of you could be bothered, could you guys point me into the direction of some good reading while im still away? Then once im home again one day (looks like early Jan 09 for a very special reason)could i please spend some time with you guys and observe whats going on when you write a track, remix a track, make an intro.... just to see ANYTHING about how it all works? do all of you guys have experience with using laptops as your djing tools instead of cd decks or TTs? im almost shy to say this, but like the big names how they use their laptops and all, do you guys know whats going on?? or can you guys do the same as what they do???
I know im still a newbie, but you guys understand me and my sincerity and how im a sponge wanting to suck up all the knowlage and take this all to the next level higher than other AUTAers (no offence).
Wavemotion, i know ages ago we were talking about organising this so you could introduce me to it all and show me whats happening, but dont be sorry ok!? lol
another point that i am still a little shy to ask this, but i know you guys will hlp me out, when ive tried to start to work out how to record my playing around on my decks onto the computer at home, i pretty much have no idea, ive got a little program to record and chop bits and pieces of the recording up and all that, that bit is sorted, but i dont even know if the cable is in the right plug in the sound card!!! I've gotten to the point where im able to hear the tunes playing through the computer speakers, but there is an extreemly high pitch noise coming through wich is NOT meant to be there! can anybody help me out with some idea of what im doing wrong? but i guess being away from home im a bit vague on it at the moment (aswell as it being quite some time ago).
thanks guys a billion in advance!!!
i cant wait to get home and once again be with my peoples LOL
if any of yas are interested in some of my pics, jump onto my facebook, ive got quite a load up there already (but 3 cds worth of pics were sent home a while ago so my whole journey is not up).
take care and speak to yas soon, cheers everyone!
