Yeah, I can see...., at this point what I usually do (if I have a problem which is taking me more than 5 min to resolve) swapping it for another bass sound - so far (almost exclusively) I'm using F9 Toolkit for Ableton V1_47 DX which has quite large selections of different kinds of basses with quite large tonal characteristic scale. Let me know if you need little more info on typo of basses I'm using.
Cheers,
Darek
I feel ya...a couple of things preventing me. I am leaving Las Vegas at the end of the month. Everything is primarily packed away and I decided to format the machine beforehand that I am doing production on. I got an ounce of inspiration and went to just native ableton plugs for this track because ...lol I have none loaded and didnt want to add additional plugs because of my situation. I guess I wasn't prepared to start making a full on track but it just started progressing and couldn't stop.
------------------------
As for your chillout track....HOLY FREAKIN KICK/BASS.
Has a somewhat Patrick Ohearn flair with those back end pads....very cool vibe.
If I had to say anything on a critique level I would say that the Bass and Kick are VERY prominent. The first piano layer almost seemed drowned out by it however when the full piece came in the solo/lead piano shined through. Very cool

Thanks man, yeah, these combo (kick and bass) by design suppose to be prominent as they need to drive this very melancholic atmosphere, also my fist synth is only use for creating background filler sound. My final sounds level job will be done a bit later in pre-master stage.
Cheers,
Darek

How are you not clipping I suppose I should ask, would be the better question? I did get a little distortion at higher gains but not a lot actually

It is work of compression, EQ and proper volume levels balance. Main area which I have to watch out for is overlap between kick and bass in the area (around) 30Hz to 140Hz - all deepens on type of kick and bass I'm using (in this particular WIP).
Cheers,
Darek

Just for fun, something new from last night session lol - a bit funky but still have some cool vibe in it (although still needs tons of tweaking and massaging).

sounds good Darek, would love to hear some very subtle atmospheric elements just touching in the background to give it some more vibe. maybe some low-mid pad, from the start as it sounds a bit too dry and static. very nice bass and sax.
another wip, I think the bass is a bit too thick and the mids are not coherent, but have to rest my ears.

So far your levels are OK, even your bass is seating well in this WIP but this is on my stock iPads headphones lol - let you know when I would run it on my studio one.

So far so good, levels are OK and stereo image effect is really cool - everything was on small iPads headphones

I am still unsure about the stereo field, I need to get a phase analysis tool in reason, just going by feel for now. thanks,

Very old school Housey feel to it. Good bounce at the very least and some nice harmony in there but just a tad bit to fast on the tempo for my kind of tea.
--------------
MSZ - On my end it had no conflicts. And I know this is your area that conflicts you the most however, don't spend your time worrying about that and let it defeat your creativity or inspiration to work, I mean..those pieces sound really nice man
-------------
Bringing this back for a final check. I think I have it down
And now this little bugger is starting to get me twisted. Mids are better than before but they are just not punching through no matter what I throw at it. Composition changed almost 180 degrees. Arrangement is still working but digging the tonality. This one is gonna keep me up..I just know it (no mix)
damn that first one is pretty top notch, only maybe? minor critisiscm is maybe the kick sounds a tiny bit too woody, a lift in the low could help but maybe im wrong, everything sounds great though.
the second one seems like a total mess in contrast like the master output was highpassed or something, since you didnt mix it I wont comment.
