Trappist has some UKHH/Hardtrance nights called D.D.O.D. The parties are nice I have been told. A lot of UKHH fanatics but still it is in a bar, not a huge event with lazers, huge crowds etc. The next D.D.O.D party is on june 17. Other parties are in the trappist are hardstyl/hardcore, besides that on some nights it is just a bar with normal/pop muzis

They will send it to canada!

Keep in mind that it will take about 2 hours by train to get there. It is long but the location is:

Hello, on the 18th of this month, I'm flying in to Amsterdam. I am very very excited as I've never been to the Netherlands. It's my graduation present from me, to me. I was wondering if anybody could recommend a few things to me. My total trip is from May 18th - June 1st (too short, but I have to get to work, and don't have too much money)

I am interested in:

  • Great things to see (general tourism, not necessarily music specific)
  • Great clubs to go to, I know they are listed in the first post here, but I'd like to know if any great TAs have residencies. I'd like to see some local non internationally famous talent while I visit.
  • I'd like to see Ferry's upcoming show: http://www.huizemaas.nl/

But I can't read the Dutch. And I am unsure about ticket prices, if I have to reserve them, if they are sold out, and which I'd have to buy to just see Ferry. I'd need 2 tickets (me and a friend).

  • Record stores, again, I know there is a list on the first post. But I'm looking for maybe a ton of second hand records at good prices, is there any store especially good at this?

I'd be super appreciative of any help. I can't wait to see Holland! I've read up as much as I could on all the normal touristy stuff. But I want to hear about it from people I can trust musically :-). I'll also be going to Brussels, France (champagne county) and Germany (probably Frankfurt), but I anticipate spending most of my time in the Netherlands.

If only I could have learned any Dutch. I'm told it's difficult.

Thanks,
-Eric Friesen

as for cool things in amsterdam... madame tussaud, the wax museum is neat, but pricey. just walking around amsterdam is fun. the dam, the red light district, the shops in the center. rijks museum is nice, van gogh if you're into that kinda stuff (i found the van gogh museum kinda boring). boom chicago is an improv theater run by an american company i think. its good but you may not be interested coming from the states

some cool clubs are escape, melkweg, kingdom

for record shops, midtown is good. if you can take a train out to breda, magik record shop is cool to check out, but its a ways from amsterdam.

brussels is nice, not too sure whats good there to do, didnt spend much time there. but bruges is really cute to visit. you can get a weekend return ticket to bruges from amsterdam. go to brussels on friday, then to bruges on saturday and antwerp on sunday, return to amsterdam sunday evening (or antwerp, bruges, brussels). its cheaper and a day per town is more or less enough to check em out.

cant think of anything else so if ya got more questions post them here

We have the 'sexmuseum' it's kinda fun It's 200 meters from Centraal Station. Lots of things to see!
Just walk through it. Enough to see in Amsterdam.

Against the midtown you got: 'n deep 'n dance.
At little streets in the big street you have Rhythem import, and Groove Collection. At the Zeedijk you have Outland records.

Thanks for all your help so far, but I really do want to know about the Ferry Corsten concert web page. Which fee I'll have to pay just to see Ferry, and if it's sold out, or if I can get tickets in advance, or what I'd have to do to see him.

Also, what do drinks cost in clubs in Holland? Like for a beer, simple mixed drink (rum + coke), or more complex drink (long island iced tea, etc). Just trying to plan financially.

Thanks!

It's kinda expansive. Usealy we drink at home before the party. Mixed drinks are on average 4 a 5 euros. Beer is 2. Ice tea is same as Cola and stuff, also 2 euros.

Such an expensive place, a glass of beer 2.50, bottle of cola 2,75

Kingdom is overpriced

All clubs are expansive. Only bars are a little lower.
