It's really depend on the intention and lighting of the room.
If the intention is for it to be a mellow room with some dancing but lots of lingering and being able to chat, it'd easily work
White walls will reflect the color of the lights more than black walls (which will absorb most of the color). If lights are kept on the deeper side of things and constantly shifting it could work well for a nightclub setting. But not too many lights!
For none-nightclub events, ou could make things a nicely bright with a dramatic feel.
I wouldn't hate on white walls just for them being white. It really just depends on how everything else around it is done.
This all said, white walls are probably the most difficult to deal with and unless the lighitng is perfect it could all be a big tragedy lol.
