How come when I hear Sandstorm I think of Wesley Snipes?
Anyhooo, made a last minute decision to check out Darude at BoMa last night. IMO his set was pretty good. Definitely different from other times I've seen him. He threw in a couple rock remixes that I wasn't fond of, but his own productions sounded pretty nice in there. I think BoMa has done a decent job messing with their sound system since they opened. It used to be horrible, but now it's just kinda bad. Darude's enthusiasm was fantastic. He truly looked like he was enjoying himself. As for the crowd- good size - horrible everything else. It had that "right place, wrong time" feel to it.... Good people watching, but for all the wrong reasons. Sure, there were people there for the music who were genuinely enjoying themselves, but they were the minority. Way too many guys attempting to "grind" on girls......... To Trance!?!?! Now somebody tell me how that works? In retrospect, the two rock songs and Sandstorm were excellent track choices to fit the crowd. I'm sure Darude was thinking "I bet these stupid americans would love to hear some nirvana tonight, and I must play Sandstorm so they hear a song they know." And.... the crowd ate it up. Everyone went nuts for sandstorm and I imagine a lot of people are recalling their experience today "yeah, it was awesome. He played that one song, you know - dadadadada - du - dadadadada".
I digress... it really wasnt all that bad, just not the greatest crowd. I expect a better vibe for Josh Gabriel this evening. Stay tuned.
