Thinking of moving to EU - need advise
so, I'm thinking of taking a short break from our idiot president overseas. Planning to move to EU with my family (wife, 4 year old son). At this time my preference is Amsterdam/Holland. I'm hoping to get some advise. For example, if you lived in US, had a nice house, a well-paying job but were not really happy there, would you move to Amsterdam/Holland or elsewhere? If so, why?
Also, some more specific questions:
1. Can I get by on English alone or do I also need to also learn Dutch to get a job?
2. I'm currently working in IT field - how is a job market?
3. How much is a cost of living down in Amsterdam?
any links to useful websites would be much appreciated.
Hope to see y'all soon!
Cheers!

And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Lifes change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |

Happiness is everything, money doesn't mean shit. You can make money evewywhere.

There should be jobs in support available, granted that isn't below your standards. Your main problem could be the fact that every man and his dog speaks English here, just as you do, PLUS they speak Dutch, which you don't. Applying at an NL office of an international IT company would probably be your best bet.

Getting better and better (i.e., more jobs available) after having suffered from a pretty serious crisis a few years ago.

I'd say comparable to your average US city (apart from the posh areas in NY, LA etc., which should clearly be more expensive). I don't know where you're coming from.
