Headphone help recommendations

Sorry for the noob question but I really need to get a decent pair of headphones. I need them for producing when I cant have me monitors on. I have not started look yet becuase I want to get input from all of you first I hear alot of talk about the Sony MDR-SA5000's. What is price range (USD) for a decent pair? Which do you think are best for producing trance? And what do you guys know about using a headphone amp? Should I and how good of one should I get?PLease help
