Going back to the beginning of trance: progressive house?
Am I the only one feeling trance has become very generic and meaningless nowadays (even progressive trance which I used to love not too long time ago)?
I started a radio show a couple of years ago (Salt & Vinegar, on www.sense.fm) focusing mainly on progressive trance. I had more or less stopped listening to uplifting trance by then, didn't really enjoy it anymore. However, I still felt something was wrong.
I had a nasty accident during a mountainbike training ride where I broke my back, which forced me to take a break and a serious round of thinking. I'm not saying this has anything to do with how my radio show progressed, but maybe it did speed up the process.
Anyway, I moved more and more towards progressive house and started to get the same feeling as when I started listening to trance back in 1999.
Maybe I should specify the kind of progressive house I'm talking about since Beatport is doing a great job of adding confusion to the term "progressive house". Here's the latest episode of my radio show featuring the type of progressive house I'm talking about : http://soundcloud.com/the-marsbar/t...alt-vinegar-026
I am just curious. Anyone else feeling the same? Maybe it's a result of Armada taking control over everything?
