Skeptical on RIAA pre amps, just a couple questions.

My decks have the option of using LINE or Phono. What I have noticed in my mixer is that the phono input is louder than the line. Right now I'm using a shitty pioneer DJMT-1. The reason why I got this was personal preference like I wanted to master the mixer before I use on the clubs here in the states so now I'm ready to sell and move on. Mostly in Miami and local clubs there would a be a nexus unless I'm playing at a techno show and there would be A heath.

Basically, my question is what do the pre amps do are they necessary on all mixers? I'm quite curious.

Its almost time for the Rane MP, king of kings, sigh.

What Palm said.

Further more this is a closeup of a needle in the groove:

To further explain, the RIAA curve process, compresses lows and expands highs - this is becuase low notes in terms of frequency are much closer together and so this allows separation of those notes for accurate reproduction. The other reason is that low frequencies also have much more power or amplitude so if they weren't adjusted and all frequencies were represented the needle would bump around.
