fuck TA fam.

i went to my GP in over a decade, last time was 10+ years ago, sometime in 2015, anyway apparently i cooked myself too hard this summer, I'm over 140/90

I'm 36, shits not good.

(no it was not because of the tootskis in the washroom) but it was because I'm 5'11 195 with a shit diet and excessive drinking and no exercise.

tl;dr - take care of your bodies, and all of you on this site are at least +5 or +10 than me so get it.

especially @jennypie you dirty whore who I've never met and @swamper who I'm trying to meet at random TO events, one day buddy, one day.

hahaha i've been going through this crap for the last 2 months

I went to my Dr in last November and it was fine. Fast forward to this past August and my wife want me to check it and it was through the roof. It was sooo bad that I went to a Cardiologist.

I'm on medication and I went through the Stress Test and everything tested out fine. I have a Calcium Score of 0. I'm 6'0, 245lbs and I'm on the peleton 4-5x a week

I checked my BP this morning and it was 133 over 94.

They told me the top number needs to be under 135 and the bottom number needs to under 85.

I'd like to attribute the high BP towards family related crap

Wuddup my fellow hypertension brother.

I too was diagnosed with hypertension back when I was 30. I was applying for life insurance which required testing. I was meausred at 170/120. The guy said to immediately see a doctor which I did. They prescribed some meds and told me what I needed to do. Slowly but surely, I was able to get it under control. I eat healthy for the most part and exercise regularly. I now measure 120/80 with spikes every now and then (usually to be excited). I unfortunately have white coat syndrome which means i test high at doctor visits. I make sure measure my BP for a few days ahead of an appointment to show them I have it under control.

If you're like me, it's most likely genetic (my parents had/have it) so it's something that you have be aware of. This is a good knowledge for you because now you know a bit of what your future holds.

FYI - I don't drink often but get fucking BLOTTO when I'm out partying. I still smoke cigarettes unfortunately which doesn't help the cause. It's a curse!! Hoping to eventually quit but addiction is rough. Carne asada burritos are KING!

edit* 5'9-1/2", 185 - 190lbs, 12" penis.

Lol, thanks for the advice. I do take good care of myself. I, too, just had a physical and check up with my new doctor. Bloodwork, everything. I'm fit as a fiddle.

I check my own BP at work often enough and it's rock solid. My resting heart rate is mid 50s.

Man, if you haven't kicked it by now, you're only gonna quit after there's something seriously wrong with you if you don't make a serious effort to just drop it ASAP. Go cold turkey, quit NOW! I started at age 15 or so, but now at 36 I have less than a pack a year; a few at every work function, and that's it. I feel like a king and like absolute shit every time I have one.

Some of my younger co-workers have trouble understanding why anyone alive today would smoke at all, and when I try to explain to them that basically the whole world used to smell like cigarettes, and that we're pretty much conditioned into thinking cigarette smell means there's a safe adult around, they can't seem to fathom much of it, which is pretty cool. The dumbest addiction there is, and they know it.

You're totally right. I have no excuses other then being weak. It's the craziest thing that I just can't stop. I quit during the covid lockdown for 2+ years (cold turkey) but picked back up at the office. It's just me any buddy George (an old school dude) who I shoot the shit with when we have our "safety meetings". As they say, misery loves company.

Not to worry, mate, the fact that you've gone already to the GP makes it much better than if you had not got yourself checked at all.

As for me, I'm 179 centimetres tall and weigh 70 kilos, or 154 lb over 5'10" in the empire of inches and pounds and freedom fries (I recently found out I'm 2 centimetres taller than I thought I was, which makes me the one guy in male history to say I'm shorter than I really am). I do like to say my blood pressure is 109 over 69 though, much to my doctors' chagrin, as they insist on rounding the damn thing up to 110/70 because we can't have nice things, can we?

I have to admit I've always liked the rituals of exercising, which has been helped me a lot once I hit my 40s. The clanking iron, the reps on the benching press, the loud stomps on the treadmill booming all over the gym to drown out my methane emissions to the atmosphere - a small damage to the ozone layer, a huge byproduct of my whey protein intake. It got worse after my brief stint in Korea where I found myself surrounded by sharp lines, clean skin, and people who seem to have been designed by Photoshop's gentlest hand. I shed a few kilos I didn't really need to lose and decided to work on my muscles, so now I look like a malnourished lumberjack who clearly doesn't have the necessary body fat to survive in the wilderness for more than a couple of minutes unassisted, should I ever be forced to fight the elements.

My one problem? Recently, my bloodwork came back with the kind of numbers you'd brag about in locker rooms: testosterone nearly double the upper range for my age bracket. Why? No idea. I can't even brag I did it for the plot: no syringes, no secret powders, no nothing. Just me, my dumbbells, and whatever trick my biology is playing on me this decade.

My wife fears it's cancer. I dread it's something more terrifying: it might be God's way of telling me I'm about to lose my mane after impersonating Jesus for so long

Jeez Lira, was that your only result out of range? Are you doing follow up testing? I hope it's nothing serious!

It is, other than vitamin D, and I'm getting all tests retaken this week because it makes no sense whatsoever. All else came out completely normal - liver, kidneys, cookie points, electrolytes, thyroid, chakras, glucose, blood counts, everything. Except for the veiny arms I've always had, nothing screams "alarmingly high testosterone" about me either: no irritability, no balls to the walls libido, no sudden gains at the gym, nothing besides existential angst. If anything, I'm afraid my body decided to impersonate the testosterone levels of a Greek hero to overcompensate for extremely low levels of vitamin D (my real Achiles heel), but I'm aware a little more sunbathing would have been a healthier choice.
