Satan (eek!) OMG!!!! The End of Trance!!!!

Ray Munn - Ray's House

Who the hell is this goon from MTV thinking he can
put a trance compilation out. First of all, I downloaded
it not because I wanted to listen to it but because
I wanted to see how bad the transitions were and if he had
any talent at all. He uses songs like

1) Silence (Tiesto remake)
2) Darude - Sandstorm
3) Castles in the Sky
4) Ascension (Thrillseekers remake)

And so on....As you can see he is trying to appeal to all those
damn teeny-boppers out there....I swear if MTV starts playing
trance I will kill myself....I know Im going to see a bunch of
little twelve year old girls at Best Buy buying this cd saying
how Ray Munn looks like the backstreet boys....That reminds isnt
Ray Munn a backdoor boy anyways????Oh by the way the transition between songs is absolute shyte!!!!AND TO TOP IT OFF, HE CONCLUDED
THE CD WITH ONE OF THE GREATEST TRANCE TUNES OF ALL TIME

Slyder - Score

Please someone shoot me!

What's wrong w/ Silence (DJ Tiesto Remix)? Other than it being played alot. And there is already a thread on this, I don't think Ray is all that bad and he's by far their best "VJ".

I don't know about you, but I heard the first mix of Silence in Nov 99'. Put the old dog to rest...

Posted by DRM on May-30-2001 20:42:

I heard it in June 99!

Posted by TrAnCe CoNtRoL on May-30-2001 21:11:

no one said you were being forced to watch mtv. and i think its about time trance got some respect, even if he might play some cheesy stuff (darude), its still very popular and may open more peoples eyes to the wonders of trance.

Posted by Trance Outlaw on May-30-2001 22:20:

Trance deserves recognition but this kind of exposure encourages cheesy productions.

Yeah, but what percent of the US do u think heard it? Somehow Darude- Sandstorm got airplay but Silence didn't. The people over here know what techno is but if u say trance to them they're like "wtf is that!?".

Posted by TrAnCe CoNtRoL on May-30-2001 23:54:

exactly...same here in detroit, i say to my friends, im listenin to trance, they are like, what the hell? i say 'techno' and they know.

Posted by djSlain on May-31-2001 00:00:

jeez, man i dunno what's up with u. Who wouldn't want to be able to FINALLY walk into a tower records and see a system F CD or any other trance CD and simply buy it at the register instead of having to spend $50 to import it off of amazon.com.

ummmm, and what's so wrong with those songs? It's like complaining that the parking space next to yours has a Ferrari or something. It's a GREAT selection and it's IN the states.

and why is that?

Posted by djSlain on May-31-2001 00:03:

errrr

i hope u understand what i mean. it's hard for me to express myself in Times New Roman langage. feedback, i like this topic of MTV and trance.

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-31-2001 00:10:

ahh...and just recently with the whole oakie spinning on mtv as well. trance is gonna take north america by storm imo. my prediction anyway. i mean...if mtv promoting it now...think how it'll be in a some months away.....

Exactly, the CDs here now cost too much and u can't exactly find all of them here either.

even if it is darude...you have to get people listening somehow, and face it, people KNOW that tune. they arent gonna listen if it is some track they dont even know. if they like that, maybe theyll go on to some better trance tunes. its a start. if they keep listening to darude, kernkraft 400, and alice deejay, then we can shoot them.

Posted by LiquidX on May-31-2001 01:43:

Aight, thanx to Ray Munns all you guys are been able to get to see Oaky spinning, and lets not be selfish, lots of people out there dont even know that this stuff exists, and MTV will be able to bring this sound to them, and if you didnt know, one of Gatecrashers goal is to take CENTRAL USA and teach them what good clubbing is, and UK clubs as a whole to teach the american record companies, and radio station that there's DANCE music ..
Well.. as of trance been big, here in south FL has growned big time, you hear commercials for cd's like CLUB NATION, the new TIMO MASS,the DARUDE CD, and more... now all the HIT radio stations have trance tune... is either Ian Van Dhal, Darude, or etc... even some Contemporany radio station is starting to play CLUB music on sat nights.. something that I never thought that such radio station would do.. so here TRANCE is picking up big time.. rest of US should follow :-)

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-31-2001 01:46:

yeahhh that'll be great. here in toronto there's ALWAYS club music and experimental and other forms of electronic music being played @ night a lot. it's really cool. it's like tuning into a shoutcast ya know? toronto's had this kinda stuff for a LONG time now. you just gotta look for it.

Posted by The Greek on May-31-2001 01:57:

new york city used to be really bad when it came to playing this music though lately theyve been playing alot of commercial stuff and they even have live from webster hall every friday night on one of the stations...but its cool to be blasting your trance in the car and people looking at you not cause its loud, but theyve never heard that stuff before believe it or not

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-31-2001 02:00:

yeah i know what ya mean man. i get people EVERYDAY coming up to me asking me what kinda shit i'm listening to cause it's reallllly good. i have access to big speakers and mixers at my school cause i'm special. hehe. so i play with em and play it LOUD baby. lol. even the ginos at my school ask me what shit i listen to and if they can have a copy. muahaha. i am the trance prophet @ my school! *raises arms in the air*

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on May-31-2001 02:06:

I was jamming to my MP3 player on the bus the one day and somebody was like "what are u listening to?" I told her and she told everybody on the bus to be quiet and they listened the whole ride home LoL. The funny thing is I had no clue they were quiet...

Posted by The Greek on May-31-2001 02:08:

i know how you feel about providing people with the music thats one of the best parts cause i make mixes all the time for these girls i know ( now if they would do me a favor in retun is another story hehe) and im the only greek in my neighborhood of all south american people so they come to me asking wtf im playing lol its funny cause now theyre playing trance in between their merengue and salsa!!

Posted by LiquidX on May-31-2001 02:17:

Talking

Yeah !!! samething happens to me.. although here in Miami peeps are used to listening to people passing through with blasting trance.. mostly in the beach area.. but.. there's always those that dont, although thats becoming less and less.. but at my school.. when Im listening to the trance on my CD player.. this ghetto kids, and this black kidd came up to me and said.. wow I love that techno sh*t.. is awesome.. they asked permision to put it on the class comp. and everyone on the class began to comment.. wow I love trance.. and some began to breakdance , and rave to it.. everyone was DANCING !!! and asking me for a copy of it !!! hehehehe..

Posted by TrAnCe CoNtRoL on May-31-2001 02:51:

Posted by The Greek on May-31-2001 02:55:

some time back when i had just taken my moms car out for a ride when push - universal nation was new i played that as loud as those cheap factory speakers went (before i hooked the car up ) thats when poeple asked me what i was listening to.. a classic never fails although you almost definitely have this song already

I turned to trance in 1998 to get away from MTV and all the popular music, i wanted to find a quality genre that was not exploited by mainstream radio stations and MTV programs

Posted by u4ea:[soulstar] on May-31-2001 03:39:

MTV. The bottom line for this corporate mongul (sp) is making money. They don't care about pushing Trance, they only started promoting trance is because Trance music was kicking some butt in the dance/music industry in UK, catching on in US, Canada, and other countries. They are just following the trends. MTV just a bunch of moochers off the subculture. I could care less if MTV was involved in pushing this genre to the public, cuz TRance movement can be just as successful without it.

Posted by da_MynDLesS_one on May-31-2001 03:44:

What's wrong with trance going commercial??? I don't understand what everyone's tendency to hate any remotely commercial sound... If trance becomes really big, that means more airplay on radio and more artists coming out with new stuff... we all win
Maybe I'm stupid, but someone needs to explain to me why mainstream trance is so bad
