Sick night!

Without a doubt the best night of my life. It could have been better though if I had talked a bit more but I was nervous most time since first time at an after hour.+my hair was freaken weird (decided to try something new *bad move*). TA's are the best I really enjoyed meeting you all and thanks for introducing me.

BTW Aria now has a new hardcore fan <----

hi guys!!!!
first i want to say it was very nice meeting a whole bunch of TAS outside ARIA
i was so much deceived by PVD!!!! first hour of his set was quite boring imo..then he started to play better trance songs...his mix of For an Angel with Rise! was nice...
why the hell did he play just 2 hours??? it was getting better
the guy looks unhappy of playing, i dont like that...comparing to preach he was a frozen statue...Preach's set was very nice; i mostly like the fact that he was not playing his usual style at ARIA and it was much slower too but it was very veryy cool
Marco G set was just what i wanted to hear after PVD's bad show...
some excellent techno tracks like Paranoid Dancer, Rollin scratchin, acid storm and also La Rock, Oxia - Substance, Tim Xavier - More Blox and the hacker - nothing lasts (oxia remix), U KNow Y (i think Starecase remix)...
more tracks later maybe im freakin tired we stayed till 10h15
great party all in all

my nick says it all

well my favourite dj is PVD once again. he blew me away... reminded me of the old pvd... maybe he never changed?. I just drifted away ,, alls I know is that was the greatest night of my life. PVD really does rule. I was so ready for another hour.. but wow what a finish.. PVD-nothing but you for encore. Starfox I understand why you go gaga over this track !!!!. Hats of to Aria and everyone there, my favourite club. I truely love that place. I know its bad to say this but im very glad PVD cancelled at viva (I had tickets, refunded them and flew to MOntreal).

The hole way home i was sining

Destroy she said ..... lalala,, Destroy she said. I have never had a song stuck in my head as much as this one.. ok Im rambling on.. I have more to say.. Time to die. Oh by the way I live in kingston. the drive home was fun as hell.

Posted by TechnoFreak on Apr-18-2003 16:40:

well, i ended up going, and i kinda regret it... PVD wasn't that great, he played a whole lot of cheeze, except for a few good moments... i much prefered preach's set, he had great tracks... it wasn't a total disaster due to the fact that i was able to party with the usual TAs...

Biggy, i have a suggestion... why not make the area behind the dj booth the VIP section... it gets way overcrowded in there, and i dont really like going on the dance floor... charge extra for people to be there, always offer 2 sets of prices for regular and VIP, you'll make more money... i dont know, that sounds like a good idea... just a thought...

anyways, later

TechnoFreak (Fab)

p.s. Ilya???? where the f*** where you? i wanted to see ya...

I had a great time, but ended up leaving about 1.5 hours into PVD's show cause I felt really sick and my sister was exhausted and looked ready to pass out.

PVD was good, but I sort of expected more from him somehow... I really enjoyed Preach's stuff better than PVD's. I think it might be cause I recognized more of it, especially the last stuff he was playing. Guess I'm not that big a PVD music connaisseur! He only played for 2 hours? I guess I didn't miss much more then. Maybe he couldn't stand the heat of that place, cause I know I almost died in the middle of the dancefloor! Too hot! I don't think I've ever sweated so much in my life.

All in all a good night, wish I could've stayed a bit longer, but anyway, it was cool to meet up with you guys at Amir, even though I didn't end up talking to most of you, sorry I was a bit shy

Posted by rongerabbit on Apr-18-2003 17:51:

I had a blast, got in at around 12:30, the place was rather empty but Preach was dropping nice techy prog beats. His set really amazed me. The remix of La La Land was just great to sing along with.

Then I dunno whether there was technical problems or what, but PVD took quite a long time to get started. I was so happy to finally hear some trance live, and Aria is now definitely my favorite club.
When he played Nu-nrg butterfly close to the end, that was just the icing on the cake. I liked his set a lot, didn't find there was too much cheese involved, but hey, that's my opinion.

Btw, there was soo many shirtless guys cuddling each other right beside me on the dancefloor, that was rather freaky lol.

Nice meeting you Taha, Malek, and Alec. Sorry about meeting everyone else, I was kinda shy too.

Hope to see ya all at Scott Bond. John

Btw, was it Alibi he was playing when the record skipped like four times ? Cuz I wanted to hear that song !

Posted by J-Dog on Apr-18-2003 18:02:

I don't know how anyone could write a poor review. He has the prestige that one cannot even go there. He is one of the original trance dj's and last night he stayed true to the art of trance. All of the dj's these days have tended to lean more towards house or hard trance, but PVD is the master of trance. Had to be there, had to go see him. PVD, you rocked the house my friend. At times it was a bit crowded, even in the lounge areas, but still very enjoyable. I didn't even bother try and walk around the dj booth because it was too crowded, but its to be expected. Biggy, thanks for bringing one of the originals to town.

Well, I couldnt' really see that from the dancefloor lol. But anyways, since it's the only mistake he made, I forgive him, I had the best nite ever.

Posted by malek on Apr-18-2003 18:39:

good thing Preach and Marco G saved the night...

Posted by Sean Walsh on Apr-18-2003 18:43:

Cool, I thought Preach only played techno. I really want to see this dude spin.

Anyways, glad you guys had fun =)

How the night went. 5 of us left Ottawa and got "lost" in montreal thanks to saome crappy construction. Made it to Amir, with no time to spare unfortunately. Got into the club easier than I've ever got in before (JF, great new policy or whatever, for PVD, almost no lineup - I like!) Once in the club, Preach laid down a sick set...SICK. It was soo good. Soon JF you will be headlining this guy, I've no doubt! PVD started late because of some problems with the mixer, they were taking it out and fiddling around, I'm not sure why, but I have a feeling PVD requested something and it took a while to fix! The cd must have had a scratch on it, which doesn't bother me, but the way PVD reacted to it did. He seemed to get very upset as if it was faulty equipment or something, I think he was just frustrated! As far as the music goes it was like one of his POD sets of last year. I really enjoyed the music, even though there was some cheese, it's all stuff that PVD plays or played in the past!

songs I remember: (I'll try my best)
Rapid eye - circa forever
pvd - another way
guide me god
nothing but you
destroy she said
for an angel (don't know the remix)
nu nrg-butterfly
solid sleep - club attack
and I can't remember the rest, but I'm sure more will come, at least a short set will have few songs to remember

All in all, not the best PVD performance but still on the whole a great night. It better not be a year before I see him again.

Forgot to mention that it was nice to meet Natasha (no problem remembering your name , as its the same as my sisters), RubyRiva and KlingKLang, most of the rest of you I'd already met and of course it was a pleasure as well.

SICK!

OMG now that was a sick night. At one point I was getting fed up of preach...Man i was dying for PVD then boom he comes on and everything turned to gold. That was a priceless nite and it was nice to finally meet some of the bigshots Had a great time, Hope you all did too.

Posted by alec on Apr-18-2003 20:03:

Oh and btw, has there been changes to the sound system because it was sick last night! Better than Stereo and Sander last time three weeks back (IMO)

Posted by ACA2000 on Apr-18-2003 20:26:

overall i had a pretty good night. like alec mentioned i was very impressed at how busy it was but there was virtually no line. once i got in i was pretty impressed with the crowd. biggy said he would ram the place like tiesto and he didn't.

as for the music, preach's set was phenomenal!!! by far the best set i've ever heard an aria resident play. i even enjoyed his set more than pvd's.

pvd didn't impress me so much. first off he went on late and finished early. the first 1.5 hrs of his set were pretty good. when he dropped rapid eye - circa forver i went nuts!!
what was up with the last hour of his set though? that is the cheeziest i've ever heard him play. some tracks he played were almost like euro dance.

overall it was a pretty good night, but i was expecting pvd to play a different style from what i had heard on his sets from the past month or so. great to see all you TA's again, it's been a while.

Hey, he played Nu-Nrg - Butterfly during that last hour and that sure isn't euro dance ! I'd be very dissapointed if you call that song dance lol !

I had a good night. I am really really impressed with the ventilation system improvements. Biggy you said there would be changes for pvd and I cant see how there wasnt! It was perfect. Sure its going to be hot in the middle of the dance floor but the second you find an open space there was plenty of fresh air. It could all have been my immagination but I really dont think so.
And if the sound wasnt good enought before, it was absolutely perfect tonight. No distortion no ringing and it was lound and heavy as shit.
Preach was amazing. He is going to be famous someday cause he is just perfect. Even though i would have prefered a banging techno set he did set the mood just perfect and with out a doubt had the crowd moving more than pvd.
Paul van dyk was alright.. I really couldnt get into it. Maybe it's just trance in general. I mean all night id finally get into the set, id be groving to the beats and then wam it would stop. Some stupid little jingle would start and I would loose interest and 3 minutes later the beats would come back on again. I still love tiesto cause its good trance thats banging all the way through so trance night in june might be the my last trance show ever. That said this may just usher in a new era. The techno era. Bring on mistress, sims, carola.. and whoever else may come my way.

One more thing, Congo, what the hell was that song we were really jamming too at the end of preach's set? It almost sounded like it had xpander/cow girl samples.. Kind of sounded like cow girl. But im not sure.

Posted by alec on Apr-18-2003 21:08:

forgot to mention the chicks. There were plenty of hot chicks there. DAMN!

Posted by ACA2000 on Apr-18-2003 21:13:

preach definetely played sasha - xpander towards the end of his set.
i was loving it when he did!!

Posted by Abject Silver on Apr-18-2003 21:17:

alright. montreal BLEW MY MIND AWAY!!!

oh, my god. peel pub and aria afterwards was amazing.

as for the cheesy trance, i think you're talking about Circ - Destroy She Said [de Donatis Remix], ACA2000. he's had a tendency to drop that track at almost every set he played in the past while.

was it just me or was natascha there with him?

the party was gorgeous, finally got to meet fastmp3 and malek and castrateur. artemy you didn't introduce me to the other russians. but no worries, there will be other opportunities.

gorgeous set by pvd, and i was completely floored by preach's set as well.

think i fell in love with aria last night. see you all again soon.

I went up with Dicoe Joe, Alec, Assassin, and MEAT. After getting slightly turned around on the way up, we finally made it to Amir for the Shwarma gathering.

I wanted to get some food, and I was like "Can I get un assiete de..."
The Dood's like "There's no assiete! Do you want what he's having?"
I says "Ok, with chicken"
he says "THERE"S NO CHICKEN, do you want what he's having?"
I says "To hell with it, I'm not eating here"

WTF is up with that? Nice attitude, buddy! I might eat there again someday

So we went to McDonalds to eat, then headed over to Aria. When I got there I had to listen to the usual dose of constant banging with no rhythm or emotion. The music (if you can call it that) was so boring that I was falling asleep --I was scared I wouldn't make it to the end of the night.

I leaned myself up against the bar with my arms crossed in boredom. Then I looked over and saw DJ Charlie sitting down with his arms crossed in boredom as well.

Then I got swarmed by 5 Ginos. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking but they needed to step back. One of them burned me with their ciggarrettes, the fuckin bastage. They were all but blowing their cig smoke in my face. Then they did the same when the started on their joints.

I found myself constantly looking at my watch hoping that PVD would come on soon. When he finally got on, I ran away from those fuckheads and up to see PVD. Immediatly I started to feel the music! With Ferry it took a long time for me to get into it. But with PVD I was feeling the music right away. The tunes he dropped were unreal, especially in the first 45 minutes. UNREAL TUNAGES!

Then his CD skipped, and PVD snapped. He started blasting someone as if it was the equipments fault for the problem. I thought he looked like one of those spoiled brats. Anyone else would have just dealt with it and move on. That took away from my "music high".

Then I finally got back into the music after about 3 songs following "the incident". The whole night I found myself saying "wow, that's a fucking great tune". Especially when he played Butterfly --that was off the hook. The crowed didn't seem to understand that song though. I was going nuts and everyone else was just looking lame or something

As far as the music goes, while PVD was spinning, it was off the hook. What a great show (too bad he only played for 2.5 hours tho). Another great part of the night was the 6 or 7 HOT CHICKS that were dancing behind the deejay booth all night. OMG I was always looking back to watch them rub themselves and shit. Those chicks blew me away! There is nothing like a bunch of hot chicks to go along with a good trance set.

As for the club itself, it was really hot. And it was jammed packed too. I was starting to get frustrated up until PVD got the music to take control of me. I don't think I've ever felt so many tits and asses in my life Girls were rubbin up against me as they tried to pass through. The only bad part is when some dood past by me and nearly bagged me with his glow stick

anyway, It was an unreal night.
