CD-R's and CD Players
why can't some CD players play CD-r's? there has to be a way around this (besides buying a new CD player). does anyone know?
i have not run into this problem before....maybe you burned it as a data cd instead of an audio cd? *shrugs* i dunno...my cd playa is like 5 years old and it plays it.
u burning it as session or soemthing?
thats the only thing i could think of. burning it as a data cd. i used to do that when i first started out. i didnt know what the fuck was wrong. check on that.
no...i'm burning them as audio CDs. there are some CD players that just don't play CD-Rs that well, or at all. for example, my DVD player (which is about 4 years old) plays DVDs, VCDs, and regular CDs, but just will not play CD-Rs. my friends car stereo plays rgular CDs, but when i pop in a CD-R it has a really hard time playing the CD (it takes forever to find the track and it skips a lot). i made some trance mixes for my brother and they played fine on my CD player but when i gave them to him, they either did not play at all or the CD player took forever to find the cue points. there is no problem with the CDs or the way i made them because they play fine on my home CD player.
a lot of times it depends on the quality of cdr's you are using. like my sony deck loves pny, imation, maxell, tdk, verbatim, etc. but hates kodak, hotan, and many other generic types of CDs. Try another brand.
is it the way the CD is formatted? because the way i see it is that you are burning 1's and 0's to a CD...why should that be reconized in one CD player and not the next. what is it that makes all these brands different from one an other?

yeah its all about the dye they use. different dyes have different reflective properties and even weight. some of you would know about kodaks story with changing the dye they used on their cds cos of a deal they struck with the playstation boys (playstations couldnt read cos the die wasnt reflective enuf). turns out they were losing billions after that so changed it back. gold is the best to go for in regard to music.
by the way has anyone else had this problem:
i burn a mix onto a cd and play it in my dvd player and it plays fine, but as soon as i put it into a low quality player like my friend's discman it plays faster??? damn weird and really annoying when youre smashed and wanna chuck some tunes on at someone else's place.

Burn your audio cd's in 1x instead of 4x or 8x
I used to burn my audio cd's at 4x and when I
put them in my stereo they skipped...
I know it sux to wait, but burn them at 1x
My cd's have not skipped once since.

It's cause 1# the cd player isn't that good and 2# the cd-r's that your burnin are shit quality, so....
Get Acer's!!!!! They worked the best for me, i've tried them on every shitty cd player pretty much and they worked in all of them, this includes Car Cd players too.
Acer CD-R80... try those out.
ok heres the deal some cheaper cd players use cheap lasers that are not very bright ,when you burn a cd the info is not as heavily burned into the foil like a production cd so the cheap cd players have problems focusing on the info, the only way to fix the problem is to either increase the laser output or overburn your cds, and to tell you the truth overburning is not garanteed to work, but turning up the lasers power will,i have done this hundreds of times and it always works

You know,
I've burned hundreds of CD's on my Yamaha 6x burner at 6x and have not had any problems reading them in my CD players (Various ones, Discman, CD changer, home stereo)....I use the Imation 80 minute CD's and they are fairly inexpensive and work well. However, certain friends who have older cd players have a lot of trouble reading them. Same goes for those who have cheaper CD players....but 95% of modern (less than 2 years old) CD players have had any problems playing any of the CD's that I've burned...
However...the burned CD's seem to be more susceptible to skipping under heavy shock loads (i.e. Jogging with discman) than original CD's...but I guess you can't have it all, can you?

I have about 6 CD Players in my house and they all play CDR's with no problem!
my discman plays CD-R but my comp seems to have problems (24X) but i dunno bout DVD players.....shouldnt they actually handle it better
or maybe its ur quality of CD's Rokster

You can't....well maybe you can if you hook up a 120V battery to it!
120V?? that's gonna melt it! lol. your outlet provides 120V. the adapter acts as the transformer to reduce the voltage. hehe.

All of the CD's i burn play just fine in my car's CD player and all other CD players except my friends car CD player, it's about 2yrs old Sony.....dunno why, it's gotta be the Sony CD player...
