progressive music and the age
Do you think progressive house music is for 19+?
cause I notice 19- are more interested in uplifting and regular trance
and 19+ are interested more in progressive scene
am i the only one who voted??

I think you just see it that way because of the way clubs book the djs that play there and how they have it 19+ etc. If more of the 19+ clubs weren't interested in uplifting/regular trance then why would Guv bring Armin 4 times up till now, or Marco V or Ferry 3 times or Tiesto? On regular nights it's a bit of both. I think Guv or even System on regular nights play both styles of music as they have rooms for it.

None because the places that play prog are all 19+

well i'd prolly agree with that statement cept for most people 19- don't even like trance, they just like top 40.. i'm 17 and i like prog so there! (don't know much about it but like the sound)

if there are jsut a few among the 19- age group that listen to prog, why should promoters/clubs cater to them and thereby make alcohol arrangements and worry about lisencing and getting screwed over if anythign happens???
Statistically I'd say yes.
I think progressive music is something that is appreciated at a more (i hate to say this) sophisticated level the same way classical music is. It can be 'boring' at times or seem like nothing is changing but you have to concentrate on the music more to appreciate it.
However, there are some of us who like prog house like moi
so, sometimes yes sometimes no
Prog house is not something I would listen to outside of a club (well, maybe in a car or something). Uplifting trance, ambient, chillout, are more the type of music to listen to at home.
I think the same goes for most people - I'm not dissing proghouse at all, I like it a lot when I go out, I just don't listen at home.
Guv, System, Lotus, Emporium, etc. are all 19+ and do not host all ages events. Therefore, people under 19 won't (or should not) be listening to prog house in clubs. Therefore, they won't listen to it at all.
We can liken it to alcoholic beverages. We could say that rev, for example, is a 19+ drink - well few people would drink this outside of a club, if people under 19 can get their hands on any alcohol it's usually cheap beer. Similar situation. That's my 2 cents anyway.

I'd say without a doubt that people that listen to prog are mostly always over 19 years old
like since I turned 21 all I been listening to is kiss 100 sets cause I got the whole archive of the shows lol
I find music tastes are not age specific. As you get older, you start to vary your music tastes. I go see deejays I like when I can that's about it. I listen to prog, trance, house, techno, breaks and lots of other stuff.
hmmmmm...to be honest, i don't really know what the difference between progressive and uplifting (trace) is...i think i do but i dunno.
now LKD tried to demostrate...and im still unsure...i just listen to trance and i evaluate every track on a individual level. IMO each track has it's own resounding qualities (n e good track that is) that makes it unique and memorable.

Nah
Progressive in other ppl's minds is one genre.
In my mind, there is progressive (stuff that is not prog house and not prog trance) and prog trance and prog house. Then again, I don't think you see people over 19 liking progressive more. Friend of mine is 34 and the biggest trance fan on the planet. I just think everyone likes certain things at different times. I mean over the last year, I went thru a prog oriented phase then a breaks then trance. I mean we all listen to such diverse electronic music and I don't think that it is fair to say people of a certain age listen to a genre more than others. Then again, not many deejays play to under 19 and the deejays that they bring in are trance deejays, so if someone under 19 wants to see a big name dj, they really don't have much choice (unless they sneak in with fake id to the guvernment or another club). Whereas if you are over 19, then you can really see all deejays that come. I think it's just not many clubs have under 19 and the clubs that do bring in trance deejays, so do the 17yr olds really have a choice?
there's always choice!
especially if you are a TA forum member...people can educate me...err you!
but club wise i agree with you TT, 19+ there's way more music accessible to you than 19- all ages.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that prog house is actually older and more established in the club scene. I mean, Digweed, Tenaglia, Nick Warren, etc...have all been established for longer than the likes of many of the currently popular trance djs. I would think that there might be a correlation between the older djs and the older crowd. I tend to think of prog as more of a "club sound" than trance...club events being more for the older crowd..
Most young kids don't remember that Warren, Seaman, Sasha, Digweed, Kleinenberg, Howells and others played TRANCE before moving towards a more dominated progressive sound. By the way, they all still play trance, just it's hard to tell.
Music is for all age groups yehh not that many 19- ppl liten to such as prog but there is a reason for it!!!! they dont have access to it ! all normal clubs in TO with prog and nice house/ breaks r all 19+s the ppl who r under ae take over the hip hop and rnb because thats the music they have access to !!! ALL ages clubs !
But if there were clubs with good prog , house/breaks there wuld be many more 19- ppl enjoying Prog
LIKE MYSELF
Untill i head steddy access to prog i was more dependant on Rap hip-hop pop dance but THX to MECHA my life is better now
But yeh if ppl 19- had acces to it they would be much more into it!!
