Why are people obsessed with DuMonde?
From what I've heard by Dumonde, I see absolutely no reason why they should be thought of as super-talented producers, and I don't really understand why people regard them so highly.
Let's take a track like "God Music" or "Can U Dig it." What's so special about it? These tracks are exactly average. They are lackluster.
Take their track "Mind's Made Up." What's so special about it? There is no good melody, nothing memorable or outstanding, just the vocal that's repeated over and over.
My point is if you like hard trance, there many better and more talented artists out there. And if you like softer trance, the situation is the same: more artists who are better.
Anyone care to explain?
I don't think people like them as much as they used to....I see more people obsessed with Gabriel & Dresden.....yes when "God Music" came out it was all about Dumonde but ever since Gabriel & Dresden did "As The Rush Comes" we all know the story
I don't consider them extremely talented producers, but they have done some amazing remixes and Never Look Back will be one of my favorite tracks for a long time to come.
But I agree, a lot of their own productions are sub-par.

I've never seen them live but I've listened to a few of their live sets and I thought they had some of the tunes they've played were very fairly cheesy. I think the ones that I've heard include Dumonde @ trance energy 2002, etc...
I ain't.
People have these things that are called opinions. Know what they are?
yea i just like some of their tunes, not all. and i dont really dig them. trauma, never look back and god music, that's about it
i think they are good but they havent developed so its easy 2 get bored of them, human sounds a lot like never look back dunnit

can't we all just get along?
It's all about personal tastes.
btw not all of Dumonde productions are good. For example some of those you mentioned.
Here are some good ones (imo) :
Airplay - Music Is Moving [Dumonde Rmx]
Dumonde - Never Look Back
Dumonde - See the light
Dumonde - Tomorrow
Dumonde vs Lange - Memory
ELT - Rescue Me [Dumonde Mix]
M.U.T.E. - Missed Beat [Dumonde Remix]
Marc Aurel - Running [Dumonde Remix]
P2 - Fade To Grey [Jam X and De Leons Dumonde Mix]
You might wanna try these too.

On a positive note, last year I bought their mixed CD -- called "Essential Trance Mix" or something -- it was pretty good. The first track was Human Evolution. It also had Light & Sound, Ding A Ling, Catalyst, their own Can U Dig It, and other tracks. You know which CD I'm talking about?
It was mixed perfectly, but then there were two people mixing it... so it was probably easier to mix...

"Why are people obsessed with DuMonde?"
Because they are good :P
I personally like them because of their kicks and synths mainly, their songs are so driving...i can't explain it really, they just rock.
I think they're amazing. Some of the newer stuff certainly isnt as good as their older tunes, but i reakon coz that is becoz they havnt changed their sound in so many years. A lot of the stuff under the JamX & De Leon alias is a bit more cheesy and not to my taste, but didnt they once say they use that alias to experiment with?? feck no's. One of their most underated tracks is definitely Yves Deruyter - Feel Free (DJ JamX & De Leons Dumonde Remix)
