Glowstick Stringing (Take A Peek Plz)

Umm
I know there's been a thread about this before
Like a while back

But I was just wondering if any of you stringers out there could post some "moves".
Coz stringing looks pretty cool but I have no idea on how to start.
So some advice would be cool
Thx!

Good Thread !!!
I luv Raving !!!
le me see Skybreak...I'm not a stringraver, but I saw this guy first tie his strings to glowsticks...than put glowsticks on the ground, than he stepped on them...than he tied the string up (by putting his arms higher) and than when the beat started..he started doing the figure 8............

i am a 'stringer'
i'll try to make a movie for u tonight
but the basic moves are:
1-vertical figure 8
2-horizontal figure 8
you can start by doing simple circles over you head, and on the sides
your strings should be approximately 15-20 cm long
and prepear to hurt yourself while practicing 'stringing' is an artform, and every art demands sacrifices (in this case you'll hit yourself in a head about 100 times before learning how to do it properly) good luck

lolly
you mean moving your hands in like an 8 sorta figure?
and where the hell would you practise?
lol

and if you could make the vid it would be awesome
just don't have the lights off so i can actually see what your doing

and what sorta string?
shoelace string?

Max2LC:
Wed? No, but there will be a party this saturday.
Purple Heaven party, check the Toronto forum for more info.

Posted by PinkLollypop on Jun-26-2001 17:41:

shoelaces are the best that's what i practice with
i practice at home, but i don't have a big mirror, so i do it in front of the window. when the sun is down you can see your reflection very well.

i too am a stringer and pinklolly is correct in sayin' that you'll potentially hit yourself multiple times before getting the basics down. first ya gotta learn to control the strings so that they won't run into each other. make sure your rotate your wrists and keeping your arms idle. that's important. that way they'll stay on a linear path. so try spinning them on your sides first off.

once you get that down. try learning a move called the butterfly. it's hard to explain. but you put your hands together, one above the other, the one at the bottom slightly ahead of the top one. then your rotate your wrists, slowly pointing them inward until the string and meteor do a kind of 'butterfly' circular pattern in front of you.

bah. hard to explain. but yeah.

then you can move onto moves like the mexican wave and other stuff.

Posted by Max2LC on Jun-26-2001 17:49:

I'll come to Toronto or where u live Skybreak..and show u
u can't really explain it over the internet...but when u see it done slowly..u'll get it

heheheh. hey that's okay! like Max said. it's really hard to explain without visual aid.

There was a movie on this site awhile ago of a guy glowstick stringing...it was awesome. The guy was pretty much making circles at his sides and then crossing the strings over to do kindof a figure 8. It definitely looked like this guy practiced a lot to do that kind of thing.

Posted by Max2LC on Jun-26-2001 18:09:

Trance DJ..

I know that move..
it's one of the easiest move...BUT IF U DECREASE OR INCREASE YOUR SPEED...your fucked !!!!

ok couple tips I experienced..
start by just moving your wrists...cause if you move your arms...u'll hurt your self badly (when u don't know how to string rave)...and remmember it takes time.....

Posted by dvd on Jun-26-2001 19:42:
