HappyHappy j00f: 5 hours the LOWDOWN!

Ok, i thought i knew the meaning of trance, that was until last nite. What can i say abut j00f, he refuses to go with the trends and plays it like it should be played, and lives it up like no other dj i have seen perform. Last nite was real trance. Bottom line WHAT A FUCKEN NITE!, qbh lived it up. Plenty of room killer sound and a great party atmosphere.

Big ups to phil, jules, stips, and nervous from sydney. Good to see u boys again. ALl i have to say if ure in sydney dont miss j00f cause hes a true performer.

mesmerising, intense, driving, relentless, euphoric, dark. Big ups i found a new found respect for trance after last nite!

P.S Tiesto - Lethal Industry + QBH sound system = EUPHORIA!

Be Cool!

Yeah, fuck, that was awesome. The bastard managed to keep it up for 5 straight hours as well. I neeeed a tracklist.

Still don't like QBH much though (the bass sounded fucked unless you were in the right place on the floor and even though it was a sardine tin there while j00f was playing, they didn't open the top bit) but still a top night. Mark James was pretty good too (anyone who plays Cowpander wins my love) but j00f was friggin amazing. Wasn't all new, but it was all class.

Won sixty bucks on the pokies later on was well, so it ended up being a pretty cheap night.

re; yeah it fukin rocked

He PLayed accelerator!!!!!!!!!!
and the new GameMaster
and Lethal Industry
and Love Angel
and sunset on Ibiza
and about 100 deep rockin trance tracks

yehaw

edit; oh it was quite funny to see the look on midro's face when he saw the crowd was dancing in a groove that had been built over the last 5 hours

'kuffdam & plant - seduction' i think may have been in there also, a couple of tracks i have in livesets but don't know the names, and cant remember what they sound like...a bit iffy with mahadeva, could have been another track before that, then j00fs remix and then something that sounded different but still sounded like mahadeva so not really sure about that hehe

but farrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkk
that was just incredible
i was just having sooooo much fun it was insane, i couldnt describe the elation i was feeling, nearly had tears when universal soul was dropped, and again with god is a dj, and again with my copy of legato which i handed to him to play

all i can say is you can't call yourself a tranceaddict and not enjoy this dj, he plays fantastic music, he is so fun to watch, so involving and has so much presence on the stage, jumping around, singing, yelling at us to come on, its amazing. when i saw him at 2tribes last year any expectations i had were just blown away. this was the same, you just had to be there. incredible set. i think thats all i can say atm hehe. pics coming soon

Cos it was too freakin busy. I spent most of the time at the back of the dancefloor or around the sides. I might have made some effort if I'd known there was gonna be a crew at the front, but there didn't seem to be much of a response in the roll-call thread so I didn't think many of you bastards would be there. :-/

Thanks for the tracklist though. Time to give the modem a bit of a work out I think.

Posted by SQ-K on Aug-25-2003 02:33:

goddamn, phil, you're a machine. very sad that i missed both this AND the 5AM gig on Friday night, but the gf flew out of the country today... marital duties prevented my attendance

werd to Renegade -- time to brutalise my modem...

Smiley DJ

I SAID GOD DAMN...... How good was it. That 5hr set destroyed all. The tunes, the timing, and how easy does he work up the crowd. The roof, the roof, the roof was on fire. He is the shiznit.
Without a doubt the best night of the year for me.

Now over to Jerry Seinfeld-
Whats the deal with Jason Midro?
JOOF spends 5hrs tearing the place apart, leaving the crowd pumped up and screaming for more and midro comes on and plays all this mello-yellow stuff. He almost put me to sleep. If I wasn't still on the joofcoaster I would been out the front of crown looking at the flame towers, cos that would have been more exciting.
I was waiting for a slinky re-play when he got hammered by all those bottles.

Sad

missed it due to self induced gackedness...

...me kno better for next time!

LOL both u and harry missed a stonkning nite!

Renegade: i thought there was plenty of room man, compared to last experience, which was PvD the place was perfect, room, the air con was imaculate although if u werent in centre the sound was a bit fucked to the sides

Posted by stipsy on Aug-25-2003 06:36:

Don't get me wrong he was spinning some good tracks, but not what i'd expect from midro. Was sort of uplifting trance but not. It was more suttle.Very very mellow. He usually plays some pretty hard stuff which is good cos he usually closes and thats right when you need it when you follow a set like joof's.
I've never seen him at BASS so i don't know what he usually spins but his style didn't really suit the tunes.

Posted by basshound on Aug-25-2003 12:22:

holy fark

now that is a set to tickly ya scrotum again and again

i think i might have to venture to Family for this one poser and stripy shirt wearers get the fuck out of there now

pffft forget the roll-call thread, it should have gone without saying that stipsy and myself would have been there! and like paul said there was a fair bit of room, well compared to other qbh gigs anyway!!

marky mark u should have been there.....argh it was incredible!

midro played madagascar which was mad, mark james said he was gonna play some classics and trance stuff, he prob got told to play like that hehe. and mark james dropped cowpander, so that was alright! also played a remix of satisfaction hehe, which im not ashamed to admit i liked

argh what a night

Ya reckon? I wasn't at PVD so I'm not sure how busy that was, but it was still almost as busy as Sasha in November (probably the last time I went there?) but at least they had the top levels open then. It was better towards the end of j00fs set when people started sitting round the sides, but after Mark James finished and j00f started we pretty much got forced off the dancefloor and had to spend like 2 hours underneath the stairs (pretty much the only place there was room to dance).

Ah, I'm not ashamed to say I love even the radio edit of that track. They play it like three times a night on Nova and I can't help but hum along to the chick-chicka ber-wow wow wow bit (yes that bit ) when it comes on. Also do a search in the humour section of the boards because someone posted the video clip which is worth watching even if you hate the track - fucken hot.

Thumbs up Joof @ Qbh

Well finally got power back today so i can say something that is long overdue from the weekend. (House nearly blew away in nowra!)

Joof is the man. That was easily the best night out i have eva had. Incredible music, great club and super loud soundsystem. Sorry Armin but this was better than your set at Gods last year and i never thought i would say that.

Big thanks to philby and stipsy for telling me the names of most of the tracks he played. And extra big thanks to philby for bringing his copy of legato on vinyl and extra big thanks to John00 for playing it during his set. It was def one of my best moments hearing that song out, and does it bigger justice than in the lounge room.

John00 was just going off behind the decks and it just brought everyone in the qbh to the point of

Mark James played an excellent set before joof but im not convinced about cowpander. I don't think it does either of the originals justice but hey it was ok.

As for Jason Midro, all i can say is in the time i lined up to get my jacket he played one "classic" - Dutch Force - Deadline and even today that is a magical Track.

Well everyone who wasn't there you missed out bigtime. Don't think that quality trance stops with armin, pvd and tiesto cause John00 is every bit as good as them and imo better.

what an impressive tracklist/report, too bad old davekinz' insurance bill for the car has rolled in and being on his whopping $150 a week salary part time in the servo couldn't make it down
