Smiley DJ Edgar V, NU NRG!!!!!!!!!, Vic Dinaire 8/23/03 @ ARC

WoW!.... Amazing!
Edgars last hour, Nu NRG, And Dinare tore ARC apart!
I got Pics, Vids and a "Tracklist from nu nrg"

Can any one tell me the tracks that Edgar played around when Thomas Datt got into the Booth, and Marco V's Echos.

I know someone got NU-NRG on a voice recorder please PM me if you did.

Posted by solidi on Aug-24-2003 18:10:

edgar began playing a whole line up of pvd material including Time Of Our Lives, Crush, Nothing but you.... dont remember the rest

Edgar V: All I have to say is that this guy needs to learn how to structure a set, and LAY OFF THE CHEESE! Never liked him, that didn't change after last night.

Nu NRG: Awesome, the sound was fucked up at the beginning so it was hard to enjoy it for like 10 min. But after awhile it came back on and they went crazy. Good set...

Didn't get to see Vic. seeing as how I had to leave right after Nu NRG, but I really wish I did. Hopefully I will get to see you spin @ your Loft Party on Thursday man!

NU NRG just pwns all! My only qualm about the evening was there was some asshole kid pushing his way to the front when they were playing. Wanted to smack 'em...

Arrow

Nu-NRG did a great job last night, despite the early technical difficulties. Edgar V lacked any kind of logical progression in his set, but was interesting to hear 3 consecutive PvD tracks..

I also noticed the voice recorder taped to the pole near the front of the room, so it will be interesting to hear this set again, even though the quality will not be great. And i was surprised that the place wasn't packed, but I guess it gave us more room to dance!

Here's some tracks I recall Nu-NRG playing:

Universe
Supersonic
Basic Dawn-Pure Thrust
Connective
Dreamland Remix
Jose Amnesia-The Eternal
+ at least 3 new productions

Greeat seeing all the TA's in full effect...

Dude its NYC, didn't you get the memo? If its not Progressive House, its not good. You should see that place when Howells or Sander are there. Its PACKED! Nu NRG is not even known really, beyond the realm of TA. PvD on the other hand, will be FULL of peeps.

ARC is definitely built on the house reputation because of Danny Tenaglia, and the old Vinyl never hosted a TRance event (until MAde Events was established. I just figured since it was a VAndit -related event, even the van Dyk fans would show..still a great night!

OH MY GOD!!!!!!! what an awwwwwwwesome night. my friend and i drove up from dc to see Nu Nrg. they were so cool. exceeded my expectations. we got there around 2 after sitting over an hour to get through the holland tunnel and edgar went on to bang his pvd faves and we were just up front checkin out Nu Nrg's gear. Once they came on it was fuckin awesome to see every little thing they were doing and hearing that great sound come outta the speakers (even though it wasnt nearly loud enough at first). they are such cool guys. im so glad i had that good spot. everytime we named a song or something the guys would smile as though they were surprised anyone even knew who they were. very cool. i wanted more.... didnt hear victor dinaire as we were dead and had a drive back to do but i wish he waited a couple mins and left room for an encore. i had a great time. my friend and i both wanted the eternal badly and when they played it we went crazy screaming out tune. the nu nrg dude on the left (baldie) heard us and filtered out almost all of the sound with his crazy touchscreen effects for a few seconds signalling to us idiots to scream the tune louder! haha.... we did

Well... If PvD wasn't going to be there on Thursday I think there would have been even less ppl. but I am just speculating. I find that most ppl. that are fans of PvD could care less about his label. Who knows... And yes Arc was established as a House club, but that is b/c NYC is a House town.

and.... the music was GREAT. nu nrg rock!!!! i never even liked pure thrust before but the way they played it out last night made it fucking cool!!!!! dreamland was badass. i used my cellphone to ask for carerra but i guess they didnt have time for it. that, and butterfly, i really wanted to hear a live version of. oh well. as dead beat as we were racing back down 95 at 5 AM, we were two satisfied dudes!

WICKED STUFF. hope they come back before a million years go by.....

The last hour of Edgar was hot.

he dropped Tom's songs, that was so cool!
(thx to tom&shannz for reppin')

nu nrg started off weak but they did some really solid work in their second half.

vic tore the place apart. god bless 'im.

i had a blast last night...im not going to go nuts with the review coz i'am soo tired....so its just going to be short and sweet

went to nu nrg's hotel, met with them..very cool guys, also met edgar v...he was really nice and he kicked my ass at arc too hehe..went to dinner, met with a bunch of crazy , radical ta's...you know who you all are, very nice meeting everyone...went to arc, went nuts, danced my ass off until 8:00 when there were only 12 guys on the dance floor...nu nrg kicked my ass last night, went home , crashed in bed...THE END

p.s. very nice meeting with everyone....arturo ,ian, lee, rueben, tom dat, shannon, kris ,brian ,vlad and tatgirl...if i missed anyone, forgive me, i 'am still "shelacked" from last night

Posted by umes23 on Aug-24-2003 21:50:

Nu Nrg? weak?
no way!!! complete fault of the sound techies. they didnt even have monitors on for like the first 10-15 minutes. what THEY were doing was solid from the beginning (in my humble opinion of course ) .

as a big pvd fan, of course i love nu nrg, because ive been exposed to their music as much as anyone could be...... but seeing them live, i have a new found level of respect for these guys. they are more awesome than i thought (go figure...)

Posted by klingklang77 on Aug-24-2003 21:52:

NU NRG killed me, their set was AMAZING!

i was a little skeptical when i heard there would be a stage inside arc, b/c it is so small and i figured it would be crowded, but there was enough room and it was fine not too overcrowed not too hot, etc.
definatly nice to walk out into the daylite and it not be humid out, i was even a little cold .

anyways i liked the end of edgar's set, and when NU NRG went on the sound was way off, but that problem was fixed and the sound was great after that. my favourite part had to be seeing NU NRG do what they do up close, that was great. and they had a good interaction with the crowd. now i have heard it was recorded anyone have any info's on that rumour? heard the first 2 hours of vic's set, and he never disappoints, was way too tired to close out his set. cant wait till the loft party.

great seeing all the TA's out and meeting a few new ones!
see most of you guys, if not all, at summerstage!

hmmm.... i have a feeling the tracks you are trying to have labelled not many of us would know. edgar always has his personal collection of hard housey shit that im guessing is not too well known.

i remember him playing ferry corsten- indigo, but im sure u know that. there was this one song i dig, with female vocals. i cant remember the words any more. but i have heard him play it at glow before pvds set, and i think i heard it at space before pvd during wmc.

what was the exact name of the last song that edgar played? it had a doors sample from the song 'the end'. anyone else hear this?

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Aug-24-2003 22:07:

hrm not bad but not great, a good tease for pvd or shall i say i good anti-climax. im sorry to hate edgar but wouldnt u want to respect paul alittle more by not playing his latest works before he came. i mean he's gonna be here in a few days and ur playing his shit before he gets to play it...kinda sad but on the other hand, its nice to hear the tracks on phazon so that was a plus, and yea vega 4 time of our lives definitely sounds sick live. ok so nu-nrg? hrm to be honest, i'd rather see a DJ set from them instead of a PA, i mean PA is a good preformance but i didnt get completely into their set.

it was nice seeing everyone represent last night. i was pretty smashed so i cant really detail names. but i must comment, indy ur a handful and ur great keep dancin ur arse off~!

definitely a good teaser to thursday, thursday we will go crazyyyyy i will be in the park around 1ish so all of you people who got my number give me a ring cuz i'll defintely gonna be laying out drinking in the parking during the day time so maybe we can be drunk together...yes to drinking...yes to alcohol...yes to SLEEP (finally)
