John "0 the man 0" Fleming

woohoo i get to start the thread..

what can we say - a whopping 4 hour set. The man is but sheer talent, unique in his own way and undoubtedly knows how to rock the club to its maximum. Caned out some awesome tunes like Gamemaster 03, Main Element - Take Me Down, and LETHAL INDUSTRY - wooah this was expected since hes been playing them recently but to hear them on club speakers was just insane - especially Lethal Industry I'm sure the others will be able to name heaps more tracks that were spun but I know that I was finding it hard to ID most of them.

I spoke to him after the set and he told me how its hard for him to keep to his own style when many other dj's are climbing up the charts with more commercial stuff, but in my opinion it is the fact that he has stuck to his own awesome electro mix style thats gained him my 100% respect.

J"00"F - u da man!

Unreal night - not too many TA's showed up but had a great time with the ones that were there - Sid, Webby, Jace, Nixter and everyone else...

now for some sleep.

catch ya'll

i am soooo glad i went last night. A bit sick but hey it was j00f! and man did he go off! full respect to 007, he's just so professional on the decks and his ability to mix across varying styles is just awesome.

big ups to webbie and smadis, nice meeting beamer and groovypants, and of course my boys pimp, dg, and spaz.

what a fantastic night. back to sleep now...

Bloody awesome night, i couldn't recognise any TA's though :\ pics and clips will be up shortly.

sorry erratik - didnt get to meet you - next time for sure!

Posted by djway on Aug-31-2003 05:36:

I was only there 4 about 30-40 mins i'd say it was good, but not great. Everyone I spoke 2 said it was like hte best set they had ever heard, then I questioned a few of them about it, and asked them why was 2 mins of silence/psy good progressive and buidling of a track, and they went oh ur right.. If he hadn't of played that tho the crowd wouldn't of gone off, but the crowd from what I asked didn't really care for the silent bits?(IE didn't really notice what was going on). He had 2 off mixes whilst I was there also, close, but not on(but technically IDGAF.......wasn't there cozi didn't think he'd be bad tecnically. On the way home I heard Oakie fuck a mix badly lol). One time he sampled a track in for 2 mins then mixed it 4 mins later, that rocked

All in all it was good, but not my fav style. I'd of payed to see him play @ $30 but no more. Maybe if I was there for the full night or on some pingers my appreciation would be higher (everyone who said it was their best set was on pingers).

He was better and less boring then I thought he would be, but still.

TA Wise I saw CrasherKiDD, Webmister, Beemer, Sid, Oli_G (I think but didn't say hello as u were not next 2 me), nixter and Jace.

unbelievable set
definately one of the finest ive heard this year

Posted by Sid on Aug-31-2003 09:34:

absolutely unreal ! j00f really knows how to get a crowd going. Too bad it was with the progress crowd, however they witnessed what trance is SUPPOSED to sound like. Hightlight for me was a track that I couldn't id, which is why I appreciated this set alot more than most others this year. Big ups to all the tas that were there web, gil, jace, nixter, nervous, erratik, beemer, crasherkid, misstrance, pvdsangel, djway and anyone else I forgot. Well trance just keeps getting bigger and bigger and 2003 has definately been on of the finest.

Fkn top night

I thought it was an amazing set, much more psy than I was expecting, and 75% I couldn't ID, which is awesome. Oh and no pingers wade

Crowd was still the dodgy Progress crowd, though didn't seem as dangerous as a fortnight ago for Helstrip .. too many sleazy guys hitting on our lurrvly TA ladies

Top night though - respect to all who showed! Larve youse all

//edit .. i thought his mixing was pretty tight .. a couple of transitions were starting to get shaky towards the end, but after 4 hours and a long trip you gotta cut a bit of slack... and the way he was winding the CDJ in the last track .. omg!

Posted by [ groovypants ] on Aug-31-2003 11:56:

mind blowing set... was really really tired from work that night, but j00f's set managed to being a bit of energy back into me.
Very unique style indeed - totally blown away by the tracks - somewhat dark, prog, tech, psy, styles of trance fused together - barra indeed. was totally unaware of my surroundings, didnt want to talk and even dance @ one point - to which i wished i had a nice sofa chair to sit back and absorb the music. Couldnt ID 99.8% of the tracks - went nuts when i heard the bassline to Lethal Indusrty, and again with Gamemaster 2003. loved the last hour of he's set - really good tunes. And massive respect to au.ta crew for that *note* for j00f to play No Other Love

w00t even got j00f to sign my Ice Cream vinyl too!

Although very brief, tiz was goot meeting some of the AUTA possE: Webby, eRRaTiK, Pimp, Beemer

/back to get some more rest...

That's cool, just wish someone could explain WHY/HOW it was so good. We all share the same tasts basically in music and for you all to like it, I just can't get why I don't (cept for the aformentioned).

The only thing (other then before) are the journeys, which IMHO was basically playing a track, play a psy/weird track then drop in another massive track. Not knowing the track names didn't bother me at all, and I found it quite refreshing hearing new tracks.

Where did I go wrong?

well, for a start u were only there for 40 mins of a 4 hour set!! i know there have been some sets i've listened to where one particular hour of it hasn't done it for me at all, yet the rest has.......but, i guess it's doubtful that u would've enjoyed the other 3 hours he played if u totally didn't like the one u heard at all.......

i dunno.....but really, ur ur own person - just because some of us enjoyed it, doesn't mean u should, and doesnt mean that by not enjoying it u've gone wrong somehow....everybody has a different opinion from the majority once in a while

based on ur words lately, all i can say is, be sure to keep a balance between thinking and feeling..............

now, about that sleeping i should be doing...hehehe.....nite

Posted by waXology on Aug-31-2003 15:10:

sounds like a mixed reviews..

was low on cash so thought the $30 would be better spent on the alcohol..hehe j00f would have been an expensive night... and he isnt really my thing... i guess

seen him once... thats was ok

I know I was there for a short time, I'm also VERY aware I'm my own person, but was just wondering if I missed anything that made it magic or, the journey or what...Looks like for once I'll have to stay different. :meh: Just a shame that a lot of my mates all around AU have rated it as the best set ever.

"based on my words lately....." Fuck me dead that's full of depth. I have NO idea what you're on about. Maybe time to fire of an e-mail or a PM to me.

Posted by pimp on Aug-31-2003 15:56:

Brilliant set though not the best set I've ever heard but still absolutely amazing and a refreshingly different mix.

JOSE AMNESIA - ETERNAL

Gamemaster 2003

Feel free to add to it - there are sure as hell alot more tracks than just those.

Good work TA, you beat me to it.

A few others he played:
Astral Projection - Chaos
Astral Projection - People Can Fly (Remix?)
Astral Projection - Flying Into A Star
Quest - Accelerator
Mandrake - Universal Soul (Digital Blonde Remix)
Main Element - Take Me Down (Lemon8 Remix)
Area - Definition Of Tekto (?)
Olive - You're Not Alone (Oakenfold & Osbourne Remix) TA, this track was re-released recently but was first released in 1997!

I've heard many live sets in my time and been to a lot of events but I can quite confidently say that this was the best set from any DJ I've EVER heard! I had only heard a handfull of sets from him in the past including last years set at Gas, which was pretty good, but his set on saturday night exceeded all my expectations.

Wade, I kinda have to agree with you there. I was there the whole time and I had an awesome night but I didn't think it was the best set ever. He played very well on the night and have much respect for the man but it just wasn't my fav style of trance. It was a nice change to the stuff I normally listen to but would much rather prefer hearing a set from someone like Armin or PVD. Maybe it was also cause I didnt know any of the stuff he was playing (except for a couple of tracks such as Lethal Industry and Take me Down).

That aside, I still had a great time partying with you all as always. See ya all next time

Posted by nixter on Sep-01-2003 08:03:

Finally alive enough to write a review. WOW had an amazing night but my spirit was dampered due to the nagging voice in my head reminding me i had work the next day. However Joof played a great set, what i loved bout it was that he played a great driving, pumping set. At no point was i bored, Joof managed to keep me on the dancefloor all night.

Night was made even better thanx to all the TA'S that were there. Only downside as Webbie said were the abundance of sleazy guys.
