The guvernment vs. Aria
I know this has been brought u endless times, but this weekend I finally got a chance to scrutinize The Guvernment. First of all, I have to say the guvernment is a massive club. It is certainly world class. Beautiful inside.
When I compare it to Aria, I have to say they are different clubs. I've had many amazing moments at Aria, but none were as good as the night I had at the Guvernment. Best night of my life I think up until now!
Having said this I can't say the club is better than Aria. they both have positives and negatives. Its a cheap club to get into, it is many faceted, there were plenty of hot chicks, equal to that seen in Montreal. Love the sky bar up top.
However being so huge, it becomes a little impersonal. The dj's in the main rooms are isolated from the crowd which imo, isn't as cool. this is one thing I love about Aria, the Dj's.
So I cannot say which club I love better, I'd need more experience at the guv to decide, one trip cannot judge the quality of a club!
Keep in mind that you went to a special event at Guv....that's not entirely the regular Saturday night crowd.
Don't judge it til you go there on a regular night. It's way different.
I am going to answer to this and give my impressions about the Guv later today...
Please people don't start a fight over this

On second thought.
TORONTO SUCKS BALLS!! GUVERMENT SUCKS PENIS! FLAME! FLAME! YOU ALL FUCKING SUCK! FLAME!

you guys suck, seriously a subject for debate on this dying forum and you guys want to kill it...
The two biggest aria whores are the ones who don't wanna discuss it?
If there is no interaction between the DJ and the crowd then the club sucks
thats my 2 cents
That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the club more the dj. Although the dj section is high up in the guvernment section, but not in Kool Haus.
Frankly this topic has been discussed before and frankly it ended up as a flame war between taha, zing vs. some toronto peeps. Frankly as far I know, people are not that loyal to clubs (yes some are) but most rather see big name deejays and most ppl don't care where. I will add that it depends on what kinda night it is at the guv because I've seen the dj booth at the back. At the koolhaus and the guv, you are likely to find deejays walking around just chatting with people. Frankly I think if you like Aria then great, if you like the Guv then great. Both are the two top clubs in all of Canada and many big names love to play at both clubs.

A little late, but here goes nothing.
I went to the Guvernment on a regular Saturday night with Mark Oliver spinning. Before even entering the club, you can tell this place is different from Aria. The building has a giant logo of the Guv, which you wont find at Aria. This really shows the philosophy behind those clubs, one wants to show off and reach as much people as it can, while the other try to have an underground image of itself and attract an elitist crowd. This could be explained if you look at the djs both clubs book, Aria tends to book a lot more techno djs than the Guv, which pleases the more underground and somewhat elitist type of crowd.
What I liked about the Guvernment complex:
 Clean club
Nice decorations (orange room is wow!)
 Alcohol
 Crowd (good looking people)
 Many rooms, many vibes
What I disliked about the Guvernment complex:
Crowd (cracked out 40s old Asians)
 Sound quality was bad
 Too much lights, too distracting
Layout of the Guv room (dj booth too high and not in the middle, glassed vip balcony,)
That being said, at first sight, The Guvernment complex can be described as being a world class club, whereas for Aria it takes more than a couple of visits before one can appreciate its subtleties and affirm the same thing.
It wouldnt be fair to compare the Guv complex versus Aria. Because the Guv complex offers a lot more than you can ask, and can easily be declared as better. But if we compare the main room at Aria and the Guv room, in my opinion Aria is the better one of the two.
Musically talking, that night, Mark Oliver was not good at all; he kept changing pace, going from trancy to housier tunes without any progression. Compared to the day before at Viva, he sucked. (sorry TOTA you guys seemed to have a blast with Marks set) Also, doesnt the Guv have another resident dj?? When I think about Mark Oliver, I think about Mc Mario
On a side note, the bouncer asked for ID at the door, I am 24 looking almost 30 I told him no way, I got in anyways. Never ever been asked for ID before
anywys, would I go back to the Guv, absolutely!!
I just wanna have fun, hear some great music. Locations can make this happen, example ottawa suck cause their is no crowd to listen to the music. As for the clubs so long as the crowd has energie and the DJ can feed of it and give it back then any club with that atmosphere is an amazing club.
Mark Oliver
Hold on a second.
Mark Oliver = MC Mario. LMFAO.
You got to be kidding.
I really pity those who havent been able to listen to a true Mark Oliver 9 hour set in the guv.
Some nights he fucks around but the majority of his sets blow the club away.
you got me wrong, i said THAT night I was under the impression he was like MC Mario
Mark is a pretty good dj, he used to play trance but not anymore
actually he played trance when I was at the guv

I regular both clubs (Depending on the DJ)
They are two totally different clubs, apples and oranges. Leave it at that.
You guys keep mentioning that the DJ is set up high in the Guv. This is not always true. The good thing about Guv is that it is big enough to have various set-ups. They do set up DJs on the stage and there was even a nice podium once set up for Deep Dish which reminded me of Aria because you could go behind and watch them spin.
IMO, I like both clubs for different reasons. If they could combine the good things of both clubs into one cool club then that would the the worlds greatest club ever!!!
