From Tiesto:

source: www.djtiesto.com

Somebody told me the other week that the voting has started again for the DJ Magazine top 100, and I thought,no way, is that a year ago already? Yes, it's already a year ago and I think back of all the great moments of the past year; playing in Hong Hong after Christmas, New Year's Eve at Times Square in New York, South Africa in January/February, then of course my concert on the 10th of May in Arnhem, Holland which is still the greatest night of my life. After that my six weeks of touring through North America, which felt as one long holiday with great performances everywhere. Then the summer festivals like Dancevalley and Creamfields, both amazing, and of course last but not least my summer residency in Ibiza at Club Amnesia.

Some people say Ibiza has lost it's glamour and it's not the same anymore. I don't believe that, because I felt that this year was great, and when I talked to other dj's they said the same thing. This year, the atmosphere on the island has been amazing. I can't believe it's already finished this coming Thursday. I have played every week with lots of joy and with an epic crowd! If I think back of all these great memories I do believe another year passed by and a lot has happened.

Because of all the moments I mentioned above, I believe this has been my best year as a dj so far, and I consider myself very lucky to be in this position. The next couple of months I will be working in the studio to make a lot of new music for my DJ-sets. I already finished some tracks and I find it amazing how people react on my music.

For example 'Traffic'. I just made that track for fun to use when I was playing live gigs, not to give it a serious release. But because of the great reaction of the people (they go wild when I play it!), the record company and I decided to release it on 12" and cd-m/cd-s. The track doesn't represent a new musical direction I am taking, but it's something different. The way I look at the productions I make are like paintings, not something that has to be in a similar style all the time. That's what I like to achieve when I make music, to entertain and surprise people, so that they wonder; did Tisto make this track as well?

Also the reaction on my version of Adagio For Strings has been amazing. I made this just for the grand opening for Tisto In Concert but people ask me to play it wherever I go. This past weekend I played it in Athens as one of my last tracks. It was near the waterfront in a venue with around 4000 people. It was 7 in the morning and the sunrise was on its way. An incredible moment I will not forget, 4000 screaming Greeks with hands in the air, sunrise and Adagio playing. I had goosebumps all over!. Moments like that remind me of the reason why I want to be a deejay...

Cheers,

Tisto

Tisto

That is what makes Tiesto such a great artist. This is the reason I voted hime #1 again this year.

hmmmm...i smell something fishy bout his statements....sounds like he is promoting himself to be number #1 again. that is why in his last sentence he said: " Moments like that remind me of the reason why I want to be a deejay..."

he made traffic for fun... no wonder.

Nice words, but listening to him fumble through his recent sets says more than he ever could.

Yes he will release another ISOS, and another artist album soon. I still respect him from a production standpoint, so let's see what he can do.

Shannon used to like him too?

In my case I was too busy worshiping him, and was just completely blinded to other more skilled DJs out there that I now enjoy more...

Part of it is also the decline of melodic/uplifting trance as a genre in recent times as compared to the mid/late 90s until maybe mid 2002.

When I listen to his old CDs or livesets however, I'm reminded of why I used to love his music so much.

very good observation indeed...let me just explain myself here for one second: there were reasons why tiesto is not on the top of my list anylonger..i don't HATE tiesto, i'am not fond of his recent sets anylonger...things change, people change..i'am just going with the flow. IS THAT OK WITH YOU???

I don't think he was attacking you Indz.

I heard a set he did recently and it was god awful. It's sad really when you realize what he used to be.

No, I wasn't attacking her or anyone else. You know how I feel about Tiesto, I've seen him 6 times live this year and they were the best experiences ever. And I've been seeing Tiesto live since 2000 and being a huge fan since 1998, but his sets from 2003 were by far the best (for my taste). What set was so awful? The three best recorded livesets from his in 2003 were 4-20 GDJB, TiC and 7-27 Amnesia. Those match the three best sets from Tiesto in 2002 and 2001 easily. I won't go into that whole blabber again, but I have my reasons and you have yours.

Posted by TiksA on Sep-17-2003 03:02:

Tiesto is number 1!

If you got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all about him. Its pointless to jump on a trash-talking bandwagon just too sound cool in a forum. He works really hard for the music and the scene.

Can't wait to see him here for NY!!
