Bren-F and Lightworks, which software package are you using?

...I might someday have the opportunity to learn a package, and I'm curious what both of you use.

Reason? Fruity Loops?

Posted by Bren-F on Oct-18-2003 22:06:

Hey,

I use Reason along with a load of Refills/samples ect T-Racks for mastering & Goldwave for sample editing

I Believe Wim uses Fruityloops along with either FM7 or Pro53 (correct me if I am wrong)

Posted by Icone on Oct-18-2003 23:10:

Bren almost got it right!

FL 3.56 for sequencing, T-Racks for mastering. Other little programs like Zerox Seamless Looper (looping searching device for wavs), GoldWave (wav editing).

But I'm using more than just the Pro53 and FM7 (which I don't actually use that much) :

V-Station, Pro52, Synth1, Zeta+, ...

Depends on what I think fits in the track

Thanks.

The two of you are both providing great examples of the power of both of these programs.

Reason seems great to me, but DAMN, what a learning curve it appears to have.

Yeah, took me 6 months to be able to produce anything decent with it.

...but oh boy, it was sure worth it!

Not to mention FL - I am still learning

Read This!

Took me about a 6-8 months to get anything half decent out of reason, but as Mr M said, it was WELL worth it!

I'm now being forced to use Fruity Loops 3 by some unnamed person (you know who you are ). But from what I can tell so far, i much prefer Reason sequencer and synths, however Ive fallen in love with the T404 FL synth ! And The VST support is excellent, also the fact you can use it AS a VST, super!

But reason for me is the one, but its good to know how to use other programs too

Thats all very good there, however...

You can have all the kit in the world and still suck (im not implying you suck so dont take that the wrong way ) but i find if u have limited amounts of software/hardware and you get to know them inside out before your next purchase, you can produce MUCH better music!

Just a tip from me, not much help but oh well hehe!

Shep

P.S. Im intrigued to hear some of your stuff eXtended, you got any links that I can check out?

Fruityloops over here, 100%. I use plenty of VST's, and Plugins. I've been using it for 1 year, and a half, and I still haven't mastered the program, 100%. I try to produce at least one solid song a day, and So far, I've been progressing slowly, but surely. Big fan of Floops here! -Mental

Reason has lots of potentential...if used right. I only wished the subtractor synth was stereo like absynth's...but thats notthing. Reason does have somewhat of a learning curve, but I believe its more intuitive in design than Fruityloops, but creativity comes from the user and not the software, I guess. I am a Reason fan, and am still learning also.

Peace...pipe.
