6 pack

my 6pack is almost there..i can feel it and see it...ive been working out alot..

wut other tips to get it...faster..

ive been doing 1000 crunches daily..

how long it took yall..

Getting a six-pack is more about dieting than actually working out. To get a well-defined six pack you need to sacrifice muscle-mass in other areas.

Posted by discitelli on Oct-21-2003 02:34:

if you're really doing that amount daily you should already have a great six pack. Though to make a six pack more defined or more visible to others i would suggest cutting back on fatty foods and carbohydrates

Posted by Chris Crossland on Oct-21-2003 02:34:

You do em with wieght on your cheast?

Posted by kaige on Oct-21-2003 02:36:

Cardio is the best way to burn fat and get the 6-pack to show, then tone up with crunches/whatever.

i have been wanting to say this forever!

Posted by jdjd on Oct-21-2003 02:38:

have you guys ever heard of "ab-etching"
its a new form of surgery that people get to carve out a six pack.. the doctor will cut away the fat in certain spots to give that look

Don't eat and run 6 miles a day.

Beer is the worst thing possible when it comes to displaying your abs. Sure you'll still see them, but you won't get real defined abs while drinking.

Posted by jdjd on Oct-21-2003 02:46:

some cardio the next morning would work, but you might not feel like it heh
i think thats why ppl associate drinking with getting fat (other than cals), makes you kind of a lazy-ass, but if you are disciplined enough then wtf why not heh...

next question jdjd and omega (thnx dudes uve been a great help) when it comes to smoking which im planning to give up does it have any effect on fat or anything when it comes to workin out (other then cardio, which i must say is really weird cause my cardio is 10x better then anyone else i know and i smoke a pack every 2 days)

Not directly, but as you said, normally it will affect your ability to do cardio for extended periods. I used to smoke, and I'm still working on building up my lung capacity, I get winded fairly quick.

You'd be surprised how many people are cut and smoke as soon as they leave the gym. As long as you stay active it's not a huge deterent, but don't expect to get in perfect condition while smoking. The only benefit of smoking is it normally reduces your appetite and will make you shit more. Don't get me wrong tho, you're much better off quitting, hehe.

Do you guys have any idea of how muscle is developed?

ill tell you. Muscle fibers are on or off. You have to trigger them to spasm. After a while they become worn out/torn. Theyll figure out they either need to get more endurance or more strength. More strength makes them bigger. More endurance tends to slice excess off. 1000 crunches a day will make what little muscle you have compact into a ball and the only way to see it will be through 4% fat. You need to MASS!!

So either do crunches with a 25 lb plate, or my favorite (if youre at a gym) take the tricep rope put the machine up to 190 and do 6 sets of 10 bends from your knees. just use your abs. itll take a bit to figure out how not to use your arms and back but when you do...HOO BOY. That builds mass AND expands your thorasic cavity making the waist line all the more impressive.

Dont start acting like you know everything and then write that completely wrong paragraph...
In fairness your excercise suggestions are good...

He has 3 levels of exercising. Im not even at level 1 yet. His is a bodybuilders routine.

the reason he didnt make money training is because he was too busy winner Mr Olympia and Universe and then he quit and made million in real estate in the 70s and then made movies. hehe.

anyways point being. Ive been working out for about 3 years now, and his principles are incredibly solid. Use those with his exercises that you see fit and you cant lose. Just takes time to establish exactly what your body needs in way of diet + exercises. Most of the time the key is going to be more in mixing up routines knowledgably and not plateauing like a mudda fugga. All im gonna say though is im insanely happy with my body, and I owe it to this book.

Just 1 mans opinion.

Posted by jdjd on Oct-21-2003 04:10:

true he does have alot of great info, im surprised anyone can gain from his training routines tho... congrats
remember he wrote most of that 20 years ago, excercise science has progressed alot in that time (tho we still know comparitively very little)
