Buying Decks
Ok- I dont want to buy Tech's so whats the second best decks out there in the mid price range?
if your not buying techs, and just want decks to start mixing with, go get the Gemini XL500II. get 2 of those and a descent mixer. Once you think your rdy, move onto technics.

The Gemini PT series is really good. It's direct drive and is basically a less expensive clone of the Technics 1200MK2. I know some people that have used these decks and they think they are great.
I almost bought these

:P
Is two of the Gemini 500II's for $315 a good price?
well they are about 160 a piece for brand new ones. I would suggest just goin to the shop and getting new ones, and not off ebay. I started out on 2 used geminis XL500II. They are perfect for beginers. Plus once your rdy to move on, its not like you threw a shitload of money away.
I have two great condition XL-500 IIs to sell. PM me if you're interested.
The Gemini XL-500ii series are okay. I ate these babies before I had my Techs. They're okay for mixing but they don't have a lot of torque.

The Stanton ST-100 is also a decent table. They cost more than the Gemini XLs. I'd go with these. You don't hear about 'em much.

Go for the Numark TT200's or the (supposedly coming out soon) TT500's, I have the 200s and love em. hit me back if you got any questions . . .
also check this thread:

these tables are going pretty cheap (brand new) on ebay, and I would definitely buy them over the XL500s. I actually have a friend with the XLs and i thought the build quality looked horrible.

thats what im saying . . . seriously, if you just LOOK at the build quality of the Numark 200s over the Gemini's you'd buy them. I've seen both and the Geminis look pretty bad.
Im not opposed to numarks- I just think the 1910's i had were going south- one had more torq than the other and it was hard to deal with- well- im lazy and didnt want to deal with it. lol
So I guess it's between 200's and 500II's
if thats the line right below 1200's
by the way your avatar is awesome.

i didnt post before, but i decided to post my opinion...i was contemplating some lesser quality turntables and considered the Stantons and the Vestax (just to save some cash). Fact is, it came out to be anywhere from 300-450 to buy some turntables...i ended up buying a pair of used Techs for $600 including needles. For the extra 150 or 200 bux, get the quality decks. That way, 1. you wont ever have to buy or upgrade decks again...you are done with it...and 2. you wont ever have to worry about trying to sell your 2nd hand crap decks
just buck up and get the techs...you WILL thank yourself...i did
Well- I have a 80% probability to hit a football parlay and win $1200 so if i win that- ill just get the tek's.
i'd still sell off stuff just to get the techs if i was brokeass and had to do it again...i ALMOST bought new TTXs but ended up paying less for the used techs anyways...
Stanton ST-100's is definitely the way to go, and they are on sale @ djmart.com for $249.99 each. They have great torque and Stanton itself is a very good company. I dont trust Gemini, I find Gemini to be a cheap reproduction of the techs (like the behringers vs. pioneer).
if not techs, go stanton
Well- honestly- JUST because it's a reproduction of something else doesnt mean its cheap.
You may be biased and just dont like them as a company in general.
That doesnt mean the product isnt still above average.
It basically comes down to brand and recognition sometimes-
Although tek's may be top o the line etc- a "knock off" maybe just the same exact thing but maybe a tek will last 10 years and knock off maybe 5 good years.
Well- I just stumbled upon some 1200 m3d's with carts and cases for $600.
Im thinkin that might be a pretty good deal.
Like I said before, Stanton used to be a part of Vestax.
Go with the ST-100.
One more thing, do not invest in straight-arm technology.

skip the crappy decks and go strait to the techs
I was thinking about buying a pair of stantons or geminis, but I decided to go with the 1200s.... and Im glad I did
in the rare case that youll wanna get rid of them, the resale value is great, whereas the resale value for gems and stantons isnt
dish out the extra cash... If you dont have the money right now, save until you do
