This is a remix I have done on behalf of a DJ friend of mine. He's a massive fan of the G & D remix of this tune (which is also far superior to my mix but, hey... ) But he wanted A mix of this tune that he could play in his sets as the G & D mix doesn't work well in his Club Trance style Mix's.

So heres the result
I'm not 100% convinced in the bass tho, a bit to heavy maybe ? or does it sound ok to every one ?

Let me know,

All comments welcome =-)

hey Bren...

as usual this sounds great. the sounds are really clear and i personally like that beat that you were wondering about...

Awesome - bass sounds great.. love the piano.. can't say much is wrong with this track.

Am I going to add this to my playlist? Why or why not?

Definitly.. love the piano again.. very clear highs.. very pro sounding. Great job on yet another track!

I think the bassline could use a little work. that's being picky I know, but the bass synth just doesn't sound quite right to me.

But what you've done with the melody is just sweet. Good job mate.

everything sounds great. This is up there with the g&d remix for me. Amazing remix.

Posted by m0sh on Nov-09-2003 11:56:

Bass doesn't fit with the piano...
The melody that you have done is nice but not much more ...hmm the synth isn't storng enough , Idon't like his sound.
at 5:08 when the melody leavs and the vocals comes back in -bad ransition
Overall this is nice... but needs much more work...g and d is much better tho

Keep the good work,

PS: I was wondering if you could send me the midi and do you got the accapella ?

Gotta say you did a nice job once more Bren! I do like the bassline, I personally don't see anything wrong with it to go with the piano. Vocals are nicely implemented as well and sound clear enough.

I don't know about the lead though... It's nice of you to add it to a track like this, but it sounds a tad muffled once more. There's no real power or feeling in it I think.

other than that, I definately like it more than the G&D remix, which I strangely enough (to some) didn't really like at all. Keep 'em coming! ;-)

Cheers,
Wim

listening..

sounds great sofar... piano is nice, but could need some more work i think... maybe more reeverb or something.. maybe have a lighter piano go in the background with it.

vocals sounds nice

i listened to it when i went to sleep.. this morning it get's since i didn't went to sleep untill like 6 or something.
and then i didn't like the bass... but i do now

melodie sounds nice..... god i love that piano.

but do something more with the piano and render out a 10min version with just strings and piano for me.. haha

Whoa, this is hot. I dig it, although I prefer the G&D mix because I think it fits the song better (slower and whatnot) but this is a different style and I think you did a great job.

My first impression was that the kick was too loud or piano too soft, but after a while I got used to it. Same with the bass, when it first came in it did not strike me as perfect (but maybe I was listening for it because of your comment). I must say by the time the track got going I did not notice it. I think once you have all the elements going the bassline is fine, but in the intro and outro were it is more promenent it is a quite noticable.

Really great job, I must say I think for the style you have done it is really superb.

I like the bassline a lot, and the track overall.

I find the piano to be off somehow though, I think it's with the timing at around the 2-3minute mark; hard for me to pinpoint what it is exactly. It also sounds like it could definitely be louder in the high-mids, a bit muffled right now.

The climax at 4:10 or so is awesome IMO, and the transition back to vocals is also quite good I find.

Overall you did a great job, and I really like it. Only thing I'd recommend is making the piano a little more pronounced by maybe filtering the lows off a bit and boosting the high-mids.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys

U can get the midi Here

However I dont have an acapella, I just used the original song as G & D have done. The original track is only Solo Vocal And piano - no other instruments

the midi for 'My Immortal' I son there aswell, that would be well worthy of a remix, its a gorgeus song, great piano and sweet vox

i could say its equal with g&d's...each rmx for its style

Posted by JohnOC on Nov-10-2003 13:02:

just downloaded it bren, cant wait to get home to listen it
im defo playin this on the radio this sat!

Posted by George Kendall on Nov-10-2003 13:49:

the vocal & piano doesn't quite sound in sync with the track...

its really good very tiesto-y reminds me of faithfulness a bit.

very well produced, great work mr 'f'

really great remix... the gabriel & dresden is very good too; but this one is much more uplifting, and as uplifting is what i like the most...

Posted by novastorm on Nov-10-2003 14:48:

whoa... *catches breath*

thats a rushy track, this is exactly what the song needed love the riff love the bassline love the piano and LOVE the vocals this is some of your best work i have heard i do get what ppl are saying about the off timing in places tho its barely noticeable and hard to pinpoint overall this track is just perfect

great work, for me better than the trifactor/g + d mix because its more my style .. heads down dance ur ass off

Posted by dbl on Nov-10-2003 15:14:

just heard the trifactor G & D remix and i like yours alot better

Posted by JohnOC on Nov-11-2003 09:50:

this is a bloody great remix, really well produced. i loved all of it apart from one part....

the bit where the piano is introduced into the song first midway through the track, with the vocal-the piano is not in sync with the kick for about 12-15 seconds and it reaaaaaaaaaally confuses the brain if u get me..then it goes back into sync and everything is ok again u shud try fix the time stretching of this if possible

but when the main synth comes in love it. the best part of the song is whena after the climax and the synth filters down a bit and the high vocals come in u should focus more on this part of the tune and perhaps repeat it, its sweet!

defo gonna play this on sat
9/10!

p.s-id like to hear a bren f tune wit a nice trance clap instead of the 'cha' clap sample. percustuff.rfl?!?

Posted by Romain on Nov-11-2003 12:49:

yeah, John is right, this part is really the best part of the remix... totally mindblowing

Definitely definitely! That part is so unbelievably sweet. A real goosebump moment...

Nice work overall here Bren. I would say more nice comments but you still haven't sent me that cd you maniac!!

Posted by mantisnl on Nov-12-2003 09:02:

wow, i havent posted in the amateur music producers section for a long time !!
sorry for that
hey but this is a very nice remix man !!
the main lead is a bit 2 hard imo, could be a bit more subtile.
good job

Posted by Sean Walsh on Nov-12-2003 15:38:

I've been all over this remix for the past few days. As JohnOC said, just fix that one little bit where the piano is out of sync (early on in the track) and you're set. Then send me the final version so I can play the shit out of it =P

Read This!

Hey buddy....

Nice track here, as usual mastering is top notch, however there are a few troubles with the song...

Sometimes the piano and vocal sample sound out of time, only sometimes, not sure if thats how its ment to be?

Also i dont really like your main synth down to personal tastes i guess, but it sounds very weak compared to the rest fo the track!

Overall its good, but i prefer the G+D mix Good effort though, good to see a different style mix of it

Indeed. The track is great strucutarlly and the most part production wise too - but I do have issues with your leads Bren. Perhaps it's a personal taste thing, but I'd really like them sounding just a little less dry and thin.. I think if you could get them sounding a little more jucier and prominent, it'd make your productions sound even better.

Good shit though.
