I don't know if you should get your hopes up that much...last time he was at avalon boston before christmas...he absolutely blew...blew as in he was the worst performance I've seen at avalon boston...i duno maybe he was just having a bad night, and i hope for your sake he does a better job at avalon nyc than in boston...

Posted by colibri on Jan-14-2004 23:10:

hey goochman i think he will be very fine
specially bec this is his 1st gig in ny
this year not to mention that his sets can
be quite envigorating provided the right
elements are in

and this night won't be an exception...

a new year, manhattan, and a saturday night

maybe last christmas he was a little bit
homesick or had an extra drink haha!
those italians can be so temperamental

Posted by nchs09 on Jan-14-2004 23:33:

i wished i lived in ny, he is the best dj imo

Posted by Goochman on Jan-15-2004 00:37:

I hope you're right colibri for your sake...I don't doubt that he is a good dj...I wouldn't be surprised if he had an extra drink or two, he was making some wierd ass facial expressions...it was kinda freaky...and as for italians being temperamental...i know they are cause i am one hehehe

Shit, for a second I thought it was Avalon, Boston, if I have time, I'll go

Posted by sunnyval on Jan-15-2004 05:50:

Hello!

I am so THERE!!!

Posted by Trance@CU on Jan-16-2004 01:23:

Never Seen Mauro before, but I'm in love with a lot of his trax and re-mixes. Jesus I'm going to flunk out of school this semester. With all these parties there will zero time to study

The Lizard Man

Mauro is great live. I've seen him at Twilo (back in the day) and at ARC and he always delivers full-on energy and hard sets. Through his productions he's got a serious fan-base and they bring it to his parties. His style of tech-trance blurs that distinction so well that both snobbish techno fans AND trance fans enjoy his sets.

I would highly recommend checking out the Lizard man if you haven't done so already. For trance fans it's a little bit more intense. I would liken it to the dark side of trance.

MU-AH-AH-AH-AH...

Picotto spin progressive?!?! Really! I find that statement a bit dubious but it's been over a year since I saw him at Arc, so I guess I'll let you know aftet 1/31.

Posted by colibri on Jan-16-2004 19:03:

for those who like tasteful surprises...

mauro's genre "unpredictability" and consistently
intense musical style during a performance make him
unique... not recommended if you either have a heart
condition or enjoy singing eloquently to commercial
tunes haha

Yeah, I saw him last time he came to Avalon, Boston, and he dropped some prog towards the end

I emailed Avalon and actually Christian Smith emailed me back and confirmed it, he and Mauro January 31. He also sent me this link pretty cool http://www.tronictreatment.com/TTchristianschedule.html

Posted by VisionsofPVD on Jan-19-2004 18:12:

So I guess his Bi-monthly residency at ARC is over....

I've seen Mauro 5 or 6 times live, and he is either completely on point or just completely off....

maaaan i remember when u liked mr. pico whats up with that?!?!?!!

Posted by Taub on Jan-23-2004 19:02:

now he does minimal techno, cant mix but has a good track selection and last time 2 times i saw him the other djs(byran zents and liebing) showed him off and he tries to act like sven behind the decks.
Also his tracks are good becuase he works with ricardo ferrai, if he didnt have ricky his tracks wouldnt be as good as they are now

Posted by colibri on Jan-23-2004 19:12:

mauro is already some kind of icon
no need for imitations or the like...

Posted by trunks1022 on Jan-23-2004 22:25:

i think i'm gonna give it a go for mauro next weekend. as momma always tells me, u won't know if u like it til u've tried it. and if u don't, at least u gave it a shot!
