bah, went last time. I can't go see the same artist too close together...makes things weird for me.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW??
Many Montreal clubs, not just Aria, are guilty of booking the same names month after month, and not bringing in new blood.. I can see their point, obviously as a business, the good ol' BLING BLING factor$ in. So where is the motivation to try something new and potentially risky, when you can go with something that is proven to draw a crowd?
I must say, props to JF for booking Jeff Mills, that will be a night for the books.. but yeah, Mauro will have played now 3 times within the last 8-9 months... a wee bit of overkill if you ask me. meh.
YA, like where's the trance, JF< you know I'm going to SONA, that's because Aria hasn't brought in good trance enough!
Alec, I think you will have a big deception amigo!
Mauro 3 times a year is too much?
Hello?
Not enough trance events at Aria?
Here is 2003:
January: Marco V
March: Ferry Corsten
April: Paul Van Dyk
May: Scott Bond
June: Tisto, Armin Van Buuren, Guy Ornadel, Ferry Corsten
August: Infected Mushroom, Micro
September: Marco V
October: Armin Van Buuren, Johan Gielen
December: Guy Ornadel
Please, you have to understand that I am trying to make everyone happy!
Its funny, people who post on forums constitute not even 5% of the after hours clients, yet they are the ones who bitch the most.
January: Marco V, and Tisto
= not trance marco is really hard, when I saw him it was closer to techno, tiesto is prog now, and Armin even plays really proggy, in montreal,
Ya I know you are trying, and I appreciate it, I just wish there were more djs, perhaps ones like Rank 1, or Steve Murano, other trance djs,.
I remember there was some discussion about maybe opening the club up on a Thursday or Sunday for Tranceaddict djs, any chance of trying this out JF? I think it could be a lot of fun
We are working on our friday & saturday night at the moment and on the renovations of the club.
P.S. If you consider Tisto and Armin not trance dj's, I don't know what is trance now. It's not because Tisto play a couple of proggy tracks that is not playing mostly trance.
Tiesto plays much more prog now than trance, esp in Montreal, and Armin plays alot harder in montreal than most places
But I do appreciate Aria, totally, its the only reason i come to Montreal (for the most part), and you're right zing, I only may come to 5% of the shows, but keep in mind, everytime I come down it costs me over 100$ just for the night, expensive for a student, just imagine if I had drug habits on top of that! I'd come to more if they were Trance
Alec: SHUT UP!
thats only what uve got to say m8....
talking shit about a place wont help it grow, if i was Biggy i wouldnt even answer to those shit
woah
I'm not talking shit about aria man, no where in my responses do I bash aria! holy .... relax, I said : "But I do appreciate Aria, totally, its the only reason i come to Montreal "
hold your horses
this topic is about Mauro Picotto
If any of you check his latest charts you will know what he plays
And actually Mauro is involved in one of Relic's projects.

no not Preach
You will see when it's official
Yes.. MAURO 3 TIMES in 8 MONTHS is quite enough
coute JF.. don't get me wrong.. I appreciate the fact that you book so much TECHNO, we all know no other club in Montreal does that... but I think you and I both know, there are so many solid, wicked headliners out there to book (techno specifically, but also in general), that *most* people, would be happy enough to see Mauro twice a YEAR, let alone 3 times in 8-9 months... I know you run a business, and you are going to run it accordingly, but I think the point I made was a valid one.
I am a frequent Aria patron, I like your club, your residents, and I will continue to support it, so take my post as a 'suggestion'.. we are entitled to those aren't we?
Kate doesn't like Mauro
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! hehehee
well.. he ain't my favourite Italian true... he ranks behind Carola, Vigorito and Gaetano on a good night, in my books.
that's not my beef though. 514 Productions used to be instrumental in booking several headliners per event, and often ones that hadn't played at a 514 event before, this exposed a lot of Montrealers to various djs who would then, pack the club when booked at other montreal events, such as sona, aria, stereo. I just don't see that happening anymore (not with 514, we all know they went to shit) I just mean, people aren't being exposed to these 'new names' as much, so there is very little demand being created. And in turn we see many of the same names month after month. It's just a vicious cycle.. c'est tout.
I'm not picking on Aria either, it's montreal clubs in general.
running an afterhours is not a good business, especially these days
so you cant expect them to experiment too much
yet theres still new Djs coming
you just need to go out more
I already made my point about running a business and taking risks..
Not living in your fine city at the present time, I can really only make it our for headliners I care to see... which still tends to be pretty damn often. So yeah, I understand *why* things are the way they are, but it's still unfortunate, in my opinion.
this wasn't an avenue to bitch either, I'm grateful we have a club like Aria in Montreal.. or else I'd have to probably convert to house..
having a big headliner and a smaller name would be cool
but then it would give less time to Aria residents... there's only 10H or so a party.
WORD!!
That's definitely a valid point. I'd say the residents outshine the headliners a good half the time at least.. and I have seen a lot of wicked sets.. no doubt. Preach, Marco G & Mateo especially for me, I consider myself lucky to have a club to go to with such dope residents, don't see that everyday.
JF: Wanna please everyone? C.A.R.L.
--------> before his Ibiza season!
he rawked last June.. very memorable night I think for a lot of people.

i agree with kate in some points. i still got flayers from sona where henrik b came to play :P hehe
