Maybe in the states it is, but he was talking about the UK release.

why should the US get the release months before the guys in the uk. I think this tactic would mean Valve shooting themselves in the foot - think about it - it's gonna be on the net within hours of it's release so how many of us UK guys will wait for the official release? I think Valve are smarter than this!

Not always but at least 95% of the time we do get games before Europe. One game that I can think of that I think released in Europe before North America was "The Getaway" for PS2.

Getting games first is nice, but it does have its disadvantages. Europe gets alot of added things to their games and Japan even goes as far as to re-release games with new features.

Far as I know it is April 2004.

well the delay is usually due to the fact console games need to be 'translated' from NTSC to PAL form.

i know PC doesnt req this, and there are a shitload of games released in Europe that are released only there or far before the US release ex: almost every Rally game - bastards|

i remember this happenend to the first one as well. i had some friends who were playing HL1 in russian and i had no idea what game it was till like 2 months later when everybody was hooked on it

they also said it was going to be released in september 03. with no chance of delays.

and, if you were paying attention to half-life 1 before it came out, it was delayed for more than a year.

and where is TF2? it was supposed to come out 'shortly' after HL1.

valve doesn't do much when it comes to hitting deadlines.

HL2 was never due in 03, it was all bullshit, and idiots like you fell for it.
HL2 was always due in 2004, and is still on track according to Gabe.

You think I give a fuck about this game anymore ? I played the beta demo and Im set, I dont even care for this overhyped game anymore.
What Im looking forward to is Far Cry and few other titles that are around the corner.
And for the record Im still saying its going to be out April.

What? We "fell for it"? It was always scheduled for a September 30, 2003 release date, until about 2 weeks before that when Valve decided to delay until November 2003. Press and punters alike eagerly consumed screenshots and movies from the title at last year's E3, while a release date of September 30 2003 seemed to good to be true. And, inevitably, it was; the supposed date came and went with no sign of the title, and then in October Valve announced that hackers had infiltrated the developer's network and stolen source code from the title.

Publisher Vivendi hastily announced the title had been put back until April 2004, but Lombardi's comments today have obviously put the kibosh on an Easter release.

With Valve's estimated 'completion' of the title scheduled for later this summer, it seems likely that an early autumn release date is most likely. Say, round about September 30...? In any case, with another delay for the PC version, it seems unlikely we'll be seeing a console version of the game before 2005.

at least it isn't like "duke nukem forever" which isn't set to come out for like 20 years (literally).. it's more of a joke in the gaming magazines than anything..

we all knew it was going to be delayed. the term "fell for it" is correct.
