53 Steeles EAST Experience ...
as I come home from work i hop on the 53 Steeles East bus at Victoria Park Ave heading eastbound..
so i get on and sit near the front of a fairly packed bus. to my right are a group of about 3-4 asian girls i would say about 17-18 years old.. speaking quite loudly i happen to overhear their conversation.. it goes a little somethin like this..
dEsidEL: ![]()
Girl 1 (to Girl 2): do your parents rave?
Girl 2: oh yah do urs?
Girl 1: OMG.. yeah they do, like do urs?
Girl 2: yah
Girl 1: omg.. really eh?
Girl 2: omg yah .. like all of my cousins's parents in my family all rave.. they go to VIVA.
Girl 1: oh yah? like do they see you there too?
Girl 2: OMG.. yah sometimes
dEsidEL:
i feel sorry for both; the parents and the kids....

OMG~~~~!
this is hilarious...
I would NEVER wanted to see my parents in such a dance floor...
Every time I go to Viva or Guv I see the same faces among the older east asian crowd. It's gotten go to point where I'm getting nods or smiles because they recognize me as well. Seeing older ppl raving.. well that took some getting used to but imagine meeting their kids or overhearing them talk as Emz did? Now that would be surreal.

Oh man, their parents go to the same clubs they do? Picture this. It's 4AM, you're grinding some cutie, got a huge boner, hands all over her. All of a sudden, some old guy appears out of nowhere and goes "Hey, what are you doing to my DAUGHTER?"

that probably wouldnt happen seeing as how there isnt much grinding at viva

| Originally posted by MarkT I didn't interpret you as making fun either... actually, I find the whole "older asian" thing at parties absolutely FASCINATING. Seriously, you don't see too many older white, black, latino, etc. people at parties...but I personally do see a healthy # of older Asian people. Why is that as for *my* parents...no chance in hell it would ever happen, but I'd freak out if I ran into them at a club...especially if it was a night of "indulgence", lol...nevermind if I ran into them, trashed out of their mind, in a little conga line navigating the dance floor at Guv |

^^^ some people who I've talked to wondered if it had to do with some of them having somewhat of a "repressed" childhood...ie. strict, "proper" upbringing...and so now they're letting loose!
this could be completely b.s. and a dumb stereotype of Asian culture in some parts of the world...but quite a few people (white people, to be precise, lol) think that might be part of it too.

my dad parties all the time...
his energy on the floor is bar none and it was him who got me into the whole after party the next morning thing.
alot of people cant imagine or dont want to imagine their parents in the scene and thats fine.
For me personally, partying it up for the last 2 years with Dad has brought some of the most fulfilling moments of my life and has made our relationship all the more special to me.
my 2 cents
