Question State of Hard Trance

Basically what the hell has happened to my favourite music genre. I used to be heavily into the trance scene especially the hard trance scene, constantly dling latest, livesets, singles and finding out all latest info on my favourite artists and so forth as we all do.

But for roughly the last year I have been out of the scene quite a lot, only grabbin a couple of live sets here and there when I could and if I could find them. Basically now I am back on track got my new PC, log onto TA Hub, and OLDOMINION, and I cannot hardly find anything new. I have been sitting here dling all the old classic livesets I can find and remeber. I have been asking people in the hubs and continuously get the answer that hard trance is pretty much dead nowadays. Please tell me this is not true. All I can get now is old hard trance sets or hardstyle stuff, which I do like but nothing compared to true hard trance. What has happened to DuMonde, SHOKK, DJ Giotto, Flutlicht, Scot project, etc.

Please guys and gals help me out here, point me towards new artists, new material or just explain what is going on, its killing me.

CAN U DIG IT!
CAN U DIIIIIIIIG IIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Werd.. I feel you. Seems like lately all anyone ever records or shares is the soft fluffy stuff. I have a few Flutlicht sets from like 2k-2k2 that are some of the best sets I've ever heard. Where have Flutlicht and similar sounds gone. Flutlicht I miss u!

I beg as well if anyone knows where to find new material

just the same feelings here. Exactly why my last mix is from November 2002!

I wish there were more good new tunes, but there aren't.

Which reminds, what happened to PvD since his EM? Did he die or something?

Scot Project has a new release out very recently. DuMonde has had plenty of new things out (I think an album is inbound). And hard trance is just as good as ever as far as I can see, stop being so nostalgic.

hard trance went to shit when reverb decided to take a break from it which meant the flutlicht and shokk projects were put on hold

i agree..just as i mentioned here
yea...neither flutlicht nor shokk have not produced anything outstanding nowadays imo because they lack reverb
and what ever happened to Dj Alici?!
that more or less discouraged me from hard trance...

they came out ages ago.

and they were quality.

the onyl thing they have done is marcel woods vs. shokk - tulips and chocolate and that isnt even out yet.

I was never that big on hard trance but I loved Flutlicht with all my heart...nowadays it seems like Dumonde is more or less the only quality hard trance producer out there...I'm probably just not looking hard enough but personally I think hard trance is kind of dead right now, things are leaning more towards techno and tech-trance. Which is fine by me, cause techno OWNZ =p

well Relieve the pain... came out in 03' it was pretty good i guess...reverb was still there?
guess i just realized i haven't been hearing Flutlicht's productions or mixes of late which is unfortunate

yep, my madness... was released then a few months after reverb called it quits for a while.

Can anyone drop any more information on new Dumonde stuff/album aswell as the new scot project stuff.

SHOKK - The Return Of Mere Noel Live at Amnesia (2003-12-24)

That is pretty much the best recent liveset i have managed to track down. I also found a few scot project ones from throughout 2003, and apart from a couple of tracks throughout WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING??????

So can anyone just name a few quality hard trance livesets from last 6 months, sets are my fave

the only fairly new dumonde production i like is Balthazar feat. Sara - Insanity (Dumonde rmx)
Arome (scot project's alias) - Visions of Paradise and his remix of Thomas Rubin's Cold Night is very good imo and is fairly new as well

i havent heard any of Scott P's sets, but most people say his mixing is shit. his productions, however, are quite good.

and after Reverb quit S.H.O.K.K. is basically just another dj alias for Dj Giotti. same goes for Flutlicht and Dj Natron.

thats what i hear too!and yeah something has to start up the hard trance again!!

Posted by G-Force on Feb-25-2004 07:42:

I do not have the idea that reverb stopped. I heard it before, but if I am correct, he co-produced: Tatana & The Mystery - Soul Cry. He IS The Mystery right??? On the credits on the back of the record appears the name Marco Guardia. Thats Reverb right? The Original Mix of Soul Cry is kinda Flutlicht like. Good tune!

I agree there are not many quality hardtrancers lately. I used to like Schwarzende in the beginning, but they completely changed to hardstyle! Maybe a lot of hardtrancers did that? I also havent heard of Cosmic Gate for a while. I think i've heard there new track on Trance Energy, but that was not very innovating.

We have to rely on SHOKK for the moment i guess!

yeah that's what I suspect, but I totally cannot understand it. Hardstyle is missing the feeling and originality that a lot of hardtrance tunes carried in the melodies. Out of 100 hardstyle tunes, I like about 2. That's just not enough and a whole set consisting of just hardstyle gets boring very fast (for me), no matter how good the mixing is.
Mondello's set at Qlimax was quite entertaining mixing-wise, but after hearing it once or twice I want my melodies back!!!
