When DJ's storm off stage
Hey all!
Im wondering if anyone has any stories regarding times when a DJ has stormed off stage and the (possible) reasons why he/she did so.
I heard about Sasha and Digweed when Sasha dumped the equip in a swimming pool...and someone mentioned Tiesto storming off at one point.
Anyone want to elaborate on some stories???
Thanks
Sasha dumped the equipment in the pool because the guy that hosted the party wouldn't give him the minidiscs of the show. Sasha was pretty ..messed up.. and mixed really really really well as a result. He wanted the minidiscs so he could recreate some of the stuff for a GU release.
Tisto was really, really close to picking up the turntables and throwing them at one of the Gatecrasher's last year; he said it himself.
Here's what Tijs said about it...

| Yeah, the Gatecrasher NEC experience was quite rough for me. When I started playing a lot of things werent plugged in right. So the sound was really bad in the beginning and the turntable didnt work and my two CD players didnt work either. It took half an hour before it started to work. And even then I only had one CD player and one turntable, so I didnt even have 2 turntables when I was playing. So I was a bit focusing on everything to keep going and of course a bit pissed off, but for the rest I played real good and I think everybody had a great time that night. It was such a shame, because I was really looking forward to it. That same night I played in Ireland as well in the beginning of the evening and my plane was delayed for two hours. I was supposed to play at 23.00h, but I only arrived at 01.30h at the venue, so I only had half an hour to get on stage again. It was all together one of those nights that everything that could go wrong went wrong, but yeah shit happens. |
I think Sasha threw the turntables into a lake/swamp at Homelands one year because they were absolute shite and were making his and Digweed's mixes trainwrecks... not exactly sure but I think I remember reading this somewhere.

When Tiesto was last in Sydney, he hit stop and stormed off stage right in the middle of Adagio for Strings
The local DJ playing after him unplugged Tiesto's headphones and plugged his own in, apparently this is enough of an affront to make him storm offstage
Don't even get started on that one
There was an argument for about 6 pages on inthemix about that.
We would've had that argument, but we were too busy arguing about Afterburn - Fratty Boy vs Afterburn - North Pole

i heard a story bout judge jules once
some one was at the front of the crowd while jules was playing and he was shouting stuff like jules is crap judge jules came round the decks walked up to the bloke and smacked him one
Sandra Collins played in my town in March. The opening dj's both played great sets without any problems. The sound did however go out once or twice. Sandra came on and mixed 2 records. She seemed to have difficulty with the setup for some reason, but the locals did not. She walked off after 3 records, because she couldn't figure out how to use the equipiment. She did however play at a diffrent venue for free.
tonight, on Fox... don't miss the startling new show, When Good DJs Go Bad
Whooaa!
When Good DJ's go Bad....They Trainwreck!
cheers.

), hit stop on the CD-J and stormed off the stage.
hehe - seems tiesto has some atitude - perhaps he sould remember who he's playing for (hint: it's the people who are paying his wages and going to see him week in week out)
Tiesto went mad in december 2002 at the koolhaus. It was the worst set in recent memory, just fader slams, no real mixing, no real effort, anyway 3 hrs into his supposed 4 hrs (he was late starting, go figure), the cdj overheats (just one of them, not the other) and I'm sure this has happened before and Tijs just blows a gasket completely, storms off stage like the arrogant asshole he is (Venue had been sold out for weeks before the gig) and talks to his manager or something and cries foul and the deejay that was after him, started going. I mean a cdj overheats, so what, play vinyl, I mean he got paid more that night than some people do in a year. The other deejay had no problem playing vinyl on the turntables that worked.
wow...came home from work, and there's all these stories posted! awesome! thanks guys, keep em coming...
One time at my friends college some dude was playing awful awful music...like pop style US mainstream radio "trance" and the crowd started booing. He stormed off stage, and I came up on stage (randomly to fill the space for a DJ) with some CD's I had in the car and played Dreas - Havannah, Robert Nickson - Spiral, Autumn Falls(John/Locust mix) Astura - Orion's Belt, and finished off with Calibro(Sonicvibe Remix)...everyone was having a good time, and I was kinda worried about getting jacked by the other dude since I completely slapped him in the face DJ wise. It was a fun weekend to say the least.
