Speeding Tickets

So this past weekend i got a speeding ticket in Indiana. was doing 75 in a 55. i came up over a hill and didn't even see the cop until it was too late. damn.

$100 ticket, but since i opted for court supervision, it's $160. fuckin'a.

anyone else have a pricey ticket out there?

last one was 53 @ 35 zone....

Got the tix at Jan and court was at April.........

Talk to solicitor and they lower it to 49 so that they don't take points off or leave a record

Pay 160 bux also

I just got one on Thursday when I was going 150 in a 100km per hour zone. Got nailed for it, but the cop says he "reduced the speed" at which he fined me.

So I get a fucking 140kmph ticket at $295 and 4 demerit points... plus insurance that will skyrocket.

Posted by lcid on Jun-16-2004 21:54:

last one i got was for doing 80mph in a 65mph zone (i was doing 90 but slammed on my brakes when i saw the cop), in Pennsylvania. same deal as you, tubularbills - didn't see the cop til it was too late. he was hiding out behind some trees.

ended up paying a $192 fine to the PA State Police. and kicking myself in the ass because instead of driving from WI to NY i could've bought a plane ticket with that money.

The thing that's nice about the US, in most states if you get a ticket outside of the state you reside the points don't go against you.

The cops around here now actually get outside of their cruiser, dressed in camo and hide in the bushes with a radar gun. Crazy police.

Really? Never seen that around here.

Yeah, it was all over the news around Memorial Day. I think they got like 75 violators within 2-4 hours.

Yeah, i slammed on the brakes as well, which he obviously saw. when i got down to 55, i set the cruise control.

the cop followed me for a while because there wasn't a place to pull over....and when he did he said he caught me doing 75. i told him, "officer, my cruise control clearly says i was doing 55". then he asked why i slowed down so fast over the hill. +hosed+. damn!

What boggles me, is that when i go to/from school, i do 80mph or faster on I-80 going back and from Iowa and i never have a problem. but i was on some rinky dink state roadd [IN-41 South] where the speed limit is 55 , not 65 and they get freaked out. ugh. stupid cops.

That's kind of a dumb place to speed, don't you think?

I got a ticket for 94 in a 55. Cost me $150, $100 in lawyer's fees, $50 for a class I had to take. In the end, 0 points, no more ticket. I've had several more less-serious tickets, and they all come out to about $250 overall.

Last year a cop let me go for 135 in a 55. It's a valleyed highway, 100% visibility, no on-ramps or off-ramps, zero traffic... nobody to hurt but myself. Didn't even pull me over

Posted by enferno on Jun-16-2004 23:59:

my friend borrowed my car and ran a red light . .
one of those ones with a camera

and they charged me for the ticket, so i appealed

and they charged him for the ticket, but $800 to me for sme bullshit court fee

Ha. I've never gotten one, not having my driver's license yet, but here's a story for ya.

So there are these huge hills in my town, in quick succession, so driving them is like a roller coaster. They're fucking huge. They're called the camel humps, and they're shaped about the same. That's how steep they are. Up, down, up down. At the top of the second hill, it goes to a school zone, 20 mile an hour speed limit. By the bottom of that hill, most people are goiing about 60. My friend went 60 over the top, and caught air. There was a cop at the bottom. He got a $900 ticket. Triple the speed limit in a school zone, and reckless driving for going airborne. Man did he get owned.

Ha, thats legal here in vegas. I do it all the time.

I got busted for I think it was 75 er so in a 60 in cali. the funny thing is the ticket was only like $111. so I just paid it. but it seemed cheap to me, compared to michigan tickets.

When i was in Germany [both in 2001 and 2003] , my friends and I were drinking in the streets and our german friends brought us in front of the police station and said the cops couldn't do anything cause it was legal! that was cool, drinkin' right in front of a cop, on the street.

$100 for a seatbelt ticket? Where the fuck do you live, Purgatory?

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Jun-17-2004 01:05:

When I was coming home from a carshow on the Turnpike the one day I stopped to get some gas and my dad went in to pay the bill, while I washed my windows off. When he was in there he overheard a state trooper talking to the tenant about these two guys on bikes, he clocked them going 160+ MPH.

Apparently he radioed ahead and had other cops block off both lanes of the highway, slowing traffic, so they could catch these guys. Once they got them they didn't even get a ticket, they landed on the "go directly to jail" space.

Posted by tubby on Jun-17-2004 01:17:

you lot sure do get lenient penalties. The guy next to me at work got done for 139 km/h in a 100 zone. On the spot Aus$595 fine (about US$400). then about a month later he gets a letter telling him that his licence will be suspended for 3 months. i think he'll slow down a little in future

Posted by surefire27 on Jun-17-2004 01:19:

was doing 105 in 65.

didn't get arrested fortunately. it was a reckless driving, so i wasn't qualified to go to traffic school and got 2 points and the fine was $330.

Yeah, in many states 20-25 over the limit is legal grounds for being thrown in jail. In some, 3 tickets within 2 years is sufficient for getting your license suspended. I had 4 tickets in the second half of 2003, and as mentioned before, didn't get arrested for doing 80 OVER the limit one day. I'm ultra lucky

i got caught on camera trying to outrun a yellow light, and the court lit me up for $400. Those bastards, it was freakin 3 A.M. with no cars or people around in a deserted area. I'm buying one of those deflector license plate covers soon.
