Trance and E.
Ok first of all id just like to say im somewhat new to trance, so dont take anything i say too seriously. Since ive started listening to the music, and getting very interested in the music, i have been finding that electronic dance music is heavily related with ecstasy. No not so much by the people involved with the music (djs producers) but moreso by the media and alot of the public. Now alot of people say stuff like who cares they dont know shit about what this music is about, and really they dont. But when it comes down to it they dont need to. I think youd be being quite naive if you said that E isnt a part of the scene at an EDM event (then again im 15 what do i know?) Anyways, E is illegal i dont care if you think it should be legal, or if i think it should be legal, we cant change that, it is illegal, and it is the cops/government/health...people...stuffs... job to do something and step in when they are seeing a drug being used widely. This means starting stupid things such as the R.A.V.E. act. Now by doing this, hurting clubs because E circulates in them, they really hurt EDM, but they dont mean to, they dont try to, they dont care about the music being played in the clubs. So really what im trying to get at is that for trance to stay alive, for a longer time it has to really distance itself from the drugs. Now id like to say, no no no no no im not all anti drug or anything, i really could care less if you do it, as long as youre safe, hell i might do it when im older, but its illegal, so cops have to do something about it, and it hurts the EDM industry. How can you expect a music genre to really flourish if it is strongly associated with an illegal substance? I really dont know where i was going with this, i just felt i needed to say, im not anti E, but the music being associated with E is hurting it. Anyways the sad thing is that people who do this to the scene are the same people who cant really appreciate the music without it...are those really the kind of people that you want to be at your shows? are those the people that should be supporting this industry? I dont know really, i mean i dont think its THAT big of a part of the industry, but it is there and as long as the media associates the music with the drug, the music is being hurt. I dont know why im saying all this crap though, i think it was someone on some other thread said something about pvd being an anti E baron? I dont have a problem with people doing it, i just have a problem with people doing it and talking about it to the extent where they create an association with it and the music. Really it comes down to i want people to love the music without the stuff, I cant stand the thought that maybe... this whole fad or scene or whatever wouldnt be here without the aid of something...that isnt an instrument... (hey can you tell that i had nothing to do this friday night???) Just a 15 yearold canadian trance newbie, long time musician and music lovers point of view and pointless thoughts.
line breaks are nice
does yr mum know your'e here?
we should start a poll to see who actually read all that.
There's a lot of people who feel the same way you do, and a lot of people who don't. It's called politics.

eh?
What about the rock scene and acid, LSD, and raga! and hiphop without weed
Ha I didn't read anymore then the first sentence.
ur dreaming if u think there will ever be raves without pills
the rave scene was built around E and the scene wont survive without E this is why most clubs are not to bothered bout drugs being taken into clubs if u notice only the biggest name club give u a heavy search and only cose the police have told them to.
So no drugs r not killing the scene in fact the scene needs drugs to survive

| Originally posted by beats and beeps exactly, doesnt it bother you that this genre of music is dependant on a drug? i mean fuck i dont care about people using it its not that bad or anything at all, but the cops do, so when the cops try to stop it, the cops are also messing up the industry. Thats why for trance to survive it has to distance itself from it. |

Ok..
1. Drugs and the rave scene came hand in hand...chillin.
2. The rave scene will not survive without drugs....GHEY
It's one thing to say how the rave scene began, and how it originally flourished into what it currently is...but to say that the scene needs drugs to keep going is stupid. E- been there done that. Sober at shows....yes, ive done that as well.
I KNOW im going to be going to shows when im older and I'm not going to be doing drugs every damn time i want to see a dj spin. Will there be people doing drugs at these shows? YEP! Will all or the majority of the people be doing drugs? Naaaa...i doubt it..
by drugs i mean something hard...
ganja isn't a drug
but anywayz- All im saying is that im in it for the music- not the drugs.
Whoever is all about E and is saying "oh yeah i wont go to a show unless im trippin on E" thats fuckin queer man.
not saying any of YOU guys said that- but there's some shitty vibe when I hear "gotta have drugs to have the music"
and all i can say to that is
FUCK THAT SHIT

kthnx

What's wrong with people who are registering lately?
^^^drugs are bad
I see where you're coming from Beats, and yes, drugs may have increased exposure of the scene in a direct or maybe indirect route. And the exposure is larger now (for trance music) than it has ever been.
More and more people are getting hooked, and these people haven't been introduced to it through drugs, but just by genuinely listening and enjoying the music, because the music is out there. As long as this pattern of exposure continues, the scene will be associated less and less with drugs. And also, as the scene begins to lose its association with the "underground," it will also begin to lose its association with drugs.
The scene will take care of itself, even though drugs at one point may have been an aid in its upbringing.
