Sad I Dont Mean To Cause More Fear, But This Is Different

let me quote nostradamus...

quote:
"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by
Chaos, while the fortress endures,
the great leader will succumb" , "The third big war will begin when the big
city is burning" - Nostradamus 1654

Posted by The White Rabbi on Sep-11-2001 23:04:

quote:
Earth-shaking fire from the center of the earth.
will cause the towers around the New City to shake,
Two great rocks for a long time will make war,
And then Arethusa will color a new river red.
(Century 1, Quatrain 87)

so ur afraid?

Posted by The White Rabbi on Sep-11-2001 23:15:

im just opened minded, i know this wont lead to WW3 because a nation didnt attak america, it was a terrorist group.

Posted by donegalredneck on Sep-11-2001 23:20:

madness hittin them towers like, and killing civilians. hittin the pentagon is different, coz it's a legitimate target, and they dont see themselves as terrorists, but as freedom fighters or the like.

you could also interpret that as the civil war...or any other war...these prophecies are to general...if they really knew something they would say time and date...but they dont...and that says something to me....kinda like a "physic" saying I know you know someone with the name beging with the letter "m"...."m" is one of the most common name starters

Posted by Evmac on Sep-12-2001 00:06:

coincidence possibly...
maybe people purposly copy these quotes..

OR MAYBE ITS REAL!

Posted by The White Rabbi on Sep-12-2001 00:35:

city of God could also be rome, and the 2 brothers being romulus and ramulus as told in aicent folklore...

Posted by tranceDJ on Sep-12-2001 01:38:

Thats really freaky because those quotes from Nostradomus describe the scene in NYC at the moment. Many believe his prophecies are correct. Not to scare you but if things went the wrong way, this could lead to a big war with possibly nuclear weapons (not very likely but still possible). Nuclear war = end of the world.

Damn, I'm going to give myself nightmares

Posted by Evmac on Sep-12-2001 02:12:

nuclear war is scary, but you have to remember that the USA has been preparing for it for over 30 years...
There is technology that they have we probably dont even know about, and plus satelites in space and missile defense systems that would pick off the missiles before they probably even landed.

I dont think that the end of the world would happen if a nuke was launched.

Posted by DJ Dingel on Sep-12-2001 02:43:

ha!

don't trust the government so much. Prepping for 30 years won't stop nuclear weapons from killing us all. Why does Bush need NMD funding so badly if we already have space lasers that shoot down nukes?

Posted by Electric_Hybrid on Sep-12-2001 03:59:

Prophets are prolly the scariest things in this world. IMO. because they don't give the exact date but they leave you in suspence. Nobody can deny someone the power that they believe they have. If a prophet has a vision and expresses it to the world than he/she must realize that they could be wrong. But they are just giving their view on things. The prophets sometimes prolly missinterpret vissions as something diff. than it's supposed to be. You never know!!!! All these prohacies may be true. The stuff that has been forseen may be comming true as we sit here and breath in what could verywell be our last breath.

i highly doubt that we can pick missiles to bits from the skies...but i do agree that the government prolly has technology that we are not even aware of...or at least i hope so...

think about it..WHAT IF THEY DON'T?? what if what we c is truly what we have???

lets pray that nothing of the sort happens..

peace

I'm not a Nostradamus fanatic, but actually he wrote his prophecies as cryptic as they are on purpose. He lived in a time where you would get burned at the stakes for saying there's no god. Actually reading about the life of Nostradamus reveils situations that are more impressive than his predictions, I think.

Posted by TrueDis on Sep-12-2001 17:29:

In case any of you guys still believe this crap, Nostradamus died in 1566. Go here if you don't believe me http://fury.com/article/925.php

Posted by dig2k on Sep-12-2001 17:36:

Nostradamus predictions have clashed b4...

He also says the era of the jews will be 5534
lol

i dont believe his predictions, personally

Hey TWR,

The following quatrain has been circulating the Internet after the WTC bombings.

In the City of God there will be a great thunder,
two brothers torn apart by chaos,
while the fortress endures, the great leader will sucumb.
The third big war will begin when the big city is burning.

It is NOT by Nostradamus.

The original source may be http://www.ed.brocku.ca/~nmarshal/nostradamus.htm. Here is a short excerpt from that page.

How does this apply to Nostradamus? Well I will show you...

If I make say a thousand prophecies that are fairly abstract for example:

In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb

Well let us analyse this. For Example what does City of God mean? It could be Mecca, Medina, Rome, Jeruselum, Salt Lake City, or any holy city depending on your religion. What do I mean by thunder--a storm? War? EarthQuake? lots of stuff can be described by thunder. There are a lot of two brothers on this world (I think the Number runs among the Billions) and fortress edure's what--Besiegement, Famine, etc? What Great Leader? How will he succumb? To what?

Its a well know fact though that Notradamas got his dates wrong a lot, so who knows whats on the horizon

Posted by Dj Lex on Sep-12-2001 18:20:

I don't know. He predicted it on this day. Why did he choose this day? Coincedence??? I don't know, but just on this day this predictions. Ok there could be a lot of cities of God, but he didn't know the civilized world as we know now. He sees this city ih his mind with those big Twin Towers and he thinks it is God or something. I don't know I am talking crap, but this is just so unbelieveble to say it is bullshit

Sorry fellas, but clairvoyance and psychic abilities just don't exist. Anyone want to tell me exactly how a person is able to view the future? Viewing the future implies that it is fixed and that it may as well have already happenned. But what if a psychic said that I would be run over by a bus and I use my free will to escape the prophecy by shooting myself? The prophecy immediately becomes false. No-one can see the future, the best we can do is make general, ambiguous statements about what may happen, using manipulative techniques. The reason why clairvoyants always seem to be right, is because firstly their statements are so general that they could be interpreted in a number of different ways, and secondly we only recognise the hits, never the misses. It's a mathematical thing, we can usually count only the events, and ignore the non-events.

To cut it short, Nostradamus couldn't predict ugly at a Slipknot concert.

If you are actually interested in learning about what clairvoyance and Nostradamus are all about instead of spouting meaningless quatraines, please look at these pages:

"I dont wanna die virgin!"
he screams as the nuke lands on his back yard
"well whatever antimissle shit they have ower america it doesn cover my house !shit! maybe it's 'cause I didn't pay my taxes."

Posted by Omni on Sep-13-2001 04:31:

I don't know where the 1654 number came from.

I have several sites that quote the Nostradamus statement @ 1554.

Since he died earlier there's no way he could post in 1654

Posted by ABTsportsline on Sep-13-2001 04:33:

I studied a little Nostradamus in college, and i personally don't buy any of it...

I think he was just a "miss cleo" of his day...

most of his predictions were so vague that honestly anyone could have said such things... not to mention that everything from him we have today is rough translations and remedied findings - there were no SOLID writings salvaged.... Second, most of his predictions are taken so seriously in light of events that happen- i.e. everyone's fears and amazement really fan the flames to his fire... like all those things people say the "coincidences" with dates and flight #'s, etc.... purely coincidence. nothing was planned with them IMO.

Another important thing to remember: Hindsight is always in 20/20...

Then you'd be hit by a bus, on your way to pick up the gun.

I don't want to comment to much on the existence/non-existence of paranormal phenomena, as this was already covered in the "Are we real?"-thread, but my stand on this is that nobody knows whether or not there is such a thing as free will, and if not prediction of the future would be theoretically possible. I'm not running my life in accordance with newspaper-astrology, but if somebody told me that I would get mugged if I followed him out of a bar, I'd certainly stay in my seat.
