Drinking beer with straw or spoon

Do you guys also do it in order to get drunk faster? What else do you do?

LMao i didnt know you could get drunk faster with a spoon

Posted by Boomer187 on Jul-09-2004 02:26:

yeah, wtf is the spoon for?

and I had a few battle with this chick in high school about using a straw. She said it gets you drunk quicker by allowing you to bypass some of the taste.

I think I was just arguing with her to look at her boobies though, cause I don't really remember what else we argued about.

Shot-gun it.

Then do a few more rounds of shot gunning and you are prime before going out

Just remember - staring at cleavage is like staring at the sun.

You drink/eat the beer as if it were soup, and it's recommended that you make some noise because this way the alcohol evaporates because of the pressure and it goes quicker to your brain.

I'm not sure "evaporate" is the right word in English, but you got the idea. The same phenomenom happens with the straw.

Me and some friends have done it with a straw to get drunk faster, and it defintely works.

i think absorb is the word you're looking for

Posted by Lira on Jul-09-2004 02:40:

Yes, you absorb it quicker, but that's because it... erm... becomes air... because of the difference of pressure. It's the same reason why deodorant is always cold, for example, as I recall it.

You sure? My chemistry teacher told us that.

Well it's truth that the beer would evaporate quicker because alcohol in general has a tendency to evaporate at much lower temperatures (see how long you can let a 200 proof shot of alcohol sit). The difference in the effect on your drunkenness is most likely negligible, however, based on the amount of beer and the rate of absorption.

As it increases the rate of absorption, you can get drunk with lesser amounts of beer. At least, that's what I understood from my class.

The same way you can drink tang before drinking alcohol so you don't get drunk (I wonder why someone would do it though).

I completely see your point, all I'm saying is that the amount of beer that would evaporate and be absorbed would in comparison to what you consume be negligible.

Got it now

Meh, you sure? I was looking for some info on google and all I found was:

And some thread about it with nothing but "I think that..."

Explain

Drinking Tang, or any other non-carbonated beverage, before/with alcohol consumption would obviously limit the rate of alcohol absorption, thus limiting how quickly one gets drunk.

I've shot-gunned on bottles (w/straw) and cans (poke hole)...thats about it...you could always gulp a glass of 151 straight if you reaallly wanna get messed up quick...

Lets have a race. You drink beer out of a straw, and I will do beer bongs. We'll see who gets drunker faster.

Here is the only thing that increases absorption: carbonation.

Now, if you hold in a spoon: The metal of the spoon will rapidly help the beer reach room temperature, and we all know that CO2 bonds when its cold and under pressure. Now its not under pressure and its warm. Also alcohol evaporates at room temperature.

The reason snifters and such exist is for tasting wines and coffees. The aerosol effect makes it ripcurl into your nose as well thus letting you taste and smell everything at once.

Now for the straw: Thats just stupid.
