Lost In Translation
Just got my DVD in the mail...I watched the film again just now...
This is one of the best movies I have seen in quite awhile. I don't know why. I know alot of people thought it sucked. It doesn't really have a solid plot...but its just different. Alot of it is pure comedy with Murray...but the parts with Scarlett Johanson are more...deep? lol...its hard to describe. Anyway, I like the idea of being in some foreign metropolis and meeting new friends...
Good Movie imo...refreshing change.

Some people just dont like change from the norm i guess.
I saw the film and was very bored at first, but as i began to understand the characters boredom and lonliness i really got into it.
I probably give it 4 out of 5! A good contempary film.
yeah i loved the movie...i fell asleep the first time i watched it at a friends house..but the next morning my friend made me watch it and it was great
There are so many hilarious little jokes in it...like when Murray is in the hospital and he goes by some guy with a bandage over his eyebrow, he goes "Switched to beer huh?"
-Clovis (well I thought it was funny...
)
I thought the movie was great.
funny, but not the usual 'funny'.

Seriously Mr. Pink...she's beautiful
And not anorexic...

I was forced to watch it. It looked like it would be more of a 'chick-flick', but hell, it's Bill Murray, so I didn't put up a fight. I do have to say that it is a good movie, though.

I really like the end too. I've had that happen to me so many times...where I know someone for quite awhile, but once I really get to know them...all of a sudden, just when I realize how much I like them...I either move or leave for somewhere...
Then we never email. Then we forget. Then the same thing happens again with someone else...

I loved the sense of solitude in the movie - being so remote from every thing that you are used to yet because of this there is a sense of tranquility and calmness.
Great movie, I too have the DVD.
Oh and the Matthew segment is just a total crackup
In fact...the very fact that the plot is as random as reality is why I like the film so much. I wish more people weren't so sucked into to the cheesy box office blow outs...

Re: Re: Lost In Translation
Moving somewhere new and having to adjust isn't a real conflict, and a movie with no conflict is like a whore with no holes.
Maybe it appeals to people who can identify with the characters, but I can't, so it doesn't. Waste of my money and my time, but if you can get enjoyment out of it then good for you.

btw, anyone hear about scarlett being in the next mission impossible movie? kinda weird- she's hot, but donno if that part would suit her.

it's one of my favorites as well. when i rented it for the first time, i bought it after i returned it and every now and then i watch it. i think i've seen it like 5 times already.
Watched the movie, was a little disappointed. But was bareable.
I enjoyed the comedic part of the movie.
IMO, the movie was an attack on commercialism and the post-industrial economy.
