DJ Mag Polls : It's Top 100 Time

quote:

It's Top 100 Time
It may not seem possible to believe, but this month also sees the start of voting in dance music's most important annual event - the DJmag Top 100 DJs poll. Voting will open on www.djmag.com from Friday 20th August and run until the beginning of October. Then we tally up all the votes (last year we had over 63,000 votes from 120 different countries, so it's quite a task) and will reveal the results at a massive party to be held on October 28th (details on the event and how you can be there will follow in a future DJmag.com Newsletter).
But before all that, we're having a bit of a launch party at London's infamous AKA bar, right next door to The End club. DJs on the night have been chosen to represent a wide range of dance music flavours, just like the Top 100, and include Kenny Hawkes, Mylo, Hybrid, Andy C plus more to be announced in the coming days. Best of all, entry is totally free to everyone who gets there before 10pm! The event runs 8pm-3am but get their early as we have an inkling that the event may be heading towards a roadblock situation pretty much from the off.
Keep checking www.djmag.com and the magazine for regular updates and Top 100 news.

Can't believe the polls are here already...just wondering what others think on who will be the one this time...Yet another victory for Tiesto or somebody else who will rise above and take the spot this year..Personally I would like to see Armin on the No 1 spot

Posted by Nalin on Aug-07-2004 16:18:

another victory for tiesto?

no sir!

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-07-2004 18:08:

Wow...it's this time of year already??? Damn, time flies!!!

Posted by trancechaos on Aug-07-2004 18:11:

id actually like to see PVD take the top spot but i dont think that would happen, i think armin is gonna take it this year, if not ferry corsten will.

Posted by Izra on Aug-07-2004 19:22:

That would be very nice for armin...He really deserves it in my opinion.

Posted by Tordan on Aug-07-2004 19:55:

^^ ditto!

Armin has never disappointed me. He definitely gets my vote.

Posted by Durafei on Aug-07-2004 20:02:

Remember that this is a popularity contest..

And is there a more popular DJ than Tiesto now ?? I don't think so. Thus I think Tiesto will win again. Armin will be right up there, and might even surprise us by winning.

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-07-2004 20:21:

I don't think Tiesto will win again just because 3 times in a row...I don't know I just don't think he can do it...I see him finishing second but I doubt he'll be first, especially because he had a lot of screw ups this year - which many weren't his fault but still...remember the whole "Gatecrasher Crash"...

In any case...I think Ferry is gonna make a MASSIVE jump this year, and Armin of course too, it will again be a year of Trance Domination...for sure it will be Tiesto, Ferry, Armin, PVD in the top 5... (in no specific order)

Posted by Izra on Aug-07-2004 20:25:

^^^^ Like they say, threes a charm. I can't see Tiesto winning again, it just doesn't seem right, but I wont be shocked if he does.

this is all true. we ALL know this is a popularity contest, and thats how it'll stay. anyway, its still too early for me to think about voting. i'll wait till prolly october....

i do have to say tho, tiesto is still REAL huge, the biggest, PLUS he still has TIC2
coming, which'll def help him.

you all know who my #1 is tho

Posted by Dancing*Queen on Aug-07-2004 21:47:

Smiley DJ

Armin has my vote!!!

Posted by Pett on Aug-07-2004 22:07:

just saw armin at dancevalley couple of hours ago.
hes got my vote.

Here are a few rising stars who I'm sure will make a big impact:

Markus Shultz
Filo & Peri
Pig & Dan (Not sure if they dj)

I hope there's a new #1, but I expect Tiesto to be at the top again. A big release with his 'Just Be' album, and a very successful tour will be hard to top.

Armin #1

Armin #1

screw voting for the big guys.... everyone should just pick some locals to get put onto the list. Luke Fair especially!!!

Posted by E2EK1EL on Aug-08-2004 01:06:

honestly ... do not vote for Tiesto

Vote for who you truely belive is #1 DJ. IMO Paul van Dyk should of been #1 a long time ago.

Since were on the topic of Armin, I've seen him 4 times and hes the by far my 3rd fav trance DJ. As for the DJ poll, every single year I noticed that all the top 5 or 4 at least trance DJ's are there...For some reason I'm starting to think that trance is just too mainstreamed, well its gotten too mainstreamed over the past couple years, if you ask me and its the most recognized EDM genre. It's just really too bad that their isn't enough quality tracks since its so popular

Posted by Phreeze on Aug-08-2004 05:10:

Armin #1 & PVD a close second!

Tiesto's productions are nice, but his mixes just don't have an effect on me like they used to.

dude trance kicks ass and there are sooo many good tracks out there i just dont think you are listening to the right ones, start listening to more live sets.

Satan (eek!)

Tiesto...armin....ferry....pvd

you guys arnt tired enough of these dj'S ?!?!?!?!

tiesto used to be big when he revolutionnized the scene with Trance energy 2000

IMO..its all over now

i still dont get it....why those dj's are so popular....

shouldnt it be a contest about talent rather than....popularity
and why the hell are these guys so well known

whateva......it'll never gonna change

Just what I suspected from the replies You guys just missed the whole point of my post!

Posted by LethalIndustry on Aug-08-2004 15:49:

let's get mark oliver on that list, he's easily one of the best dj's in north america and has been for the longest time

I second that..But Mark doesn't produce/tour and thats the reason why he won't be able to make much of an impact on the rankings...nevertheless more local dj's should be on the list...Would love to see Armin take the no 1 spot this year ...but as it has been mentioned earlier, it's still a popularity vote and that way Tiesto is ahead of everybody...
