Graphic Art Appreciation Thread (fliers or stfu)

As many of you know i've supported the TFST.NYC movement to my fullest, the dj's, the music, the venue, and most of all the tranceaddicts. And like many of you who walk past those people handing out fliers cuz you have too many stored in your desk or under your bed, do you ever stop to realize that someone sat at a computer and used their creativity and imagination to design it? I think almost 100% of the time, the graphic's get overlooked, people search for the DJ and if they don't know them, they toss it.

Artist are almost, if not always, receiving the short end of the stick. there is hardly any money for self expression where people get tied up with the notion - why should i listen to you when no one listens to me. that mentality ruins what preserves the concept of art. to make this long first post short...

i'd like say that Akko's(babytek) graphics are brilliant. Her design technique has never dried out and every new flier she designs has this strong yet subtle appeal. Big ups to Akko(babytek) and much respect to the TFST.NYC krew for always turning out a bangin party...

Please feel free to post your local graphic artist who design your fliers with their self expression, this is not ment to flame but only give props to those who fail to receive any and have succumb to such for their own love for art! Please encourage our artist to share ideas and concepts and contact information so that they may network themselves.

LOL @ Flyers or STFU.... nice.. foreals tho.. proper talent must be acknowledged not just cuz shes my gf, as a graphic designer, she got some sick skills.. very subtle and simple yet powerful and effective.. also, i used to loooove the old twilo flyers and the Buzz flyers too.. very cool stuff.. and Arc flyers were cool as well.. currently, i like the designs that Crobar comes up with.. im not feeling Spirit's, and Avalon's..

I didnt know it was Babytek who does the flyers. Props to u girl. Why dont you write your name on the flier somewhere to get credit?

A lot of flyers I see today are complete shit. No sense of hiarchy within the copy, one too many fonts used, overuse of photoshop effects, the list can go on and on. I basically like it simple but at the same time with some sort of slight edge thats not all in your face (1000 depth embossing, a shadow that would make you believe the world is entering the dark ages and why not a little neon glow for the hell of it ).

I agree with you all aboout Crobars work....top notch. Akko definitely serves up some Grade A work as well.

Slightly off subject...print vs. multimedia...but you guys should check this out.

Check out the runners up to the competition as well.

yea, fer real.... i dunno why mr pokemon's gotta be hating. when dealing with art/music its the final outcome that matters. i've been working on a trance track w/ my boi and after almost 2 months, its finally starting to sound really great. something filo & peri might have made in a couple days, but as i said before, its the finished product that matters.

that and nobody wants someone that takes months and months to make a single flier. They want someone to make fliers in an hour that looks like it takes months and months

please read my post carefully. you've fallen into the category of open criticism where your opinion is valued but shouldnt necessarily reflect the artist technique. you could have offered a different approach to your criticism and make it constructive, rather than make yourself seems like an ass by pointing out a simple technique. and for that matter, the easier techniques (layer rendering) is what makes the art visually appealing if its utilized tastefully. but before you voice your non-constructive criticism, please post your own work if layer rendering is such a newb technique.

your response is the epitomy of what the last line of my first post is all about. i dont understand how constructive criticism has anything to do with pointing out anothers fault yet never offering a solution. constructive criticism is used to open up new solutions to achieve better results. again with art, its subjective, everyone is entitled to their own liking, but by pointing out objections without offering solutions makes you one of those people who talk but never walk. i despise your response and encourage you to post some constructive content to this thread or do not participate in it at all.

as for artistic ability ill let your sig and your comment display the walking and talking. enough said, please dont post here if you aint got some good shit to say...

And its so typical and funny how you guys jump on every opportunity you get to make fun of someone. And to everyone who replyed to my post read what i said before you all rush trying to post something funny trying to look cool in front of all your internet friends.

and you made that artwork ? i believe you made your sig. one of the funniest sig ive ever seen on ta. i give you props for that.. little underraged candy ravers with passifires and a cracked out sasha... blending perfectly with eachother im not even gonna waste my time going back n forth with a fuckin 18yr old so until i see you making even a half decent club flyers i'd advise you to STFU. that image you found was that dope to you ? lol.. ok, heres the info : pokemonmaster live @ club tranceaddict April 1st 2005. include your pic, and the traceaddict lizard. make something with that info in 10mins and lets see what a 18yr old got. dumb fucks like you make ta look bad in general.. go back to raves.com or someshit. i thoroughly read your first post and it was clearly retared, all the examples you came up with did not make any sense at all. so go do your shit n lets see how talented you are.
