Rasta

Hey DJ Rapture!

this is good stuff. I downloaded all your mp3 mixes off your site(forget realplayer), listening to progression right now.. So far I've only heard the first mix it was tight, and the tunes are good!

*edit just heard the second mix, nice as well! *

curious, what mixer did you use? I like to know these things, I thought I might have heard some panning in the mix, and I was just wondering.. I am planning on buying a trance mixer soon, maybe the pioneer DJM600, or the Roland 4 channel with the FX on it. I'm not sure if I need to splurge for one of these or go for a cheaper one with less features? what do you think? I don't want to have to upgrade in a year.

as for tables, that's easy, tech12s for sure.. probably the MK2s though, from what I have heard the M3Ds are exactly the same except for the reset button which is pretty much useless.

*edit just finished progression. very well done.. that last track.. ah... so nice.. *

Hey Raving thanks for the reply As far as the mixer I use a Numark mixer which I've had only for about oh six or seven years and as you can hear works just fine! As for your choice I personally love the Pioneer but man is it expensive! Honestly just go for what you like and more importantly what you can afford!
cheers!

Sweet..

I'm 57minutes into the twilight mix, and I am in pure bliss..
this is great!

I'm going to email you so we can chat further if you don't mind.

hmm.. got no response to the email, I guess your gone now..

I'll be away from my computer for 4 days so, I guess I will talk to you later.

I'm burning your progression mix right now, I can't wait to show it to my girlfriend, she's a trance addict too.

I just got a 6Gb NOMAD jukebox.

I'm currently trying to set you up to play a rave in my hometown, I'll keep you posted thru email..

i just wanted to say niiice friggin opener.. the sounds and structure remind me a lot of private taste - first.. very mellow and subtle melodies

*wait a sec, they sound almost like the same song!*

really they kinda do

im at erendira now.. liked this track since the scott bond EM.. mixing is very smooth, wish i was as such.. how long you been on the wheels?

*edit* now at orinoko - island.. wonderful mix, starting to turn it up... man do i like this kind of progressive, and mixing too.. so chill.. its where i want to be technically AND stylistically

Posted by patticus on Oct-16-2001 05:19:

high quality mix. gotta love that saints & sinners track eh?
flows very well.... im off to DL more of your mixes and dissect them too!

great work

about the highest compliment i can give is that i wasnt skipping thru tracks. each one held my attn, which is rare for progressive normally the first time thru.

King Progression

Very nice mix.
9 out of 10 for this progressive MiX.

I'm thinking of putting a mix online I made last summer.
Looking forward for your ratings...

man, that's the BEST.. I love that outro, so peaceful..

it would make a good intro as well.

Hey Patticus thanks for the praise
As far as mixing, I've been at it for a good 9 years, and (at least until recently) having Sasha as my main infulence, track selection and fluidity are the most important things to me! Anyone can beat match, it's all about the journey...

Posted by patticus on Oct-17-2001 01:07:

heh, i think the most eyecatching thing was... your style seems really similar to what im spinning (tho ive only been on the decks 8 mos or so)

that 'fast progressive' at times.. like the starecase rmx, quivver, cowie, ascender.. silk am quite a lot of the same tracks ive laid down (or been wanting to, hehe) in mixes so far, but you push it further.. a lot of good tracks in that style unbeknownst to me there.

but you say your influenced by sasha, and im heavily influenced by pvd.. i like sasha but to be honest i like your sound more compared to a few of his live sets. we'll call it 'quick progessive', shall we?

btw the afterburn you play in atmospheres isnt north pole, its frattboy

you need to spin in vancouver sometime!

Posted by djrapture on Oct-17-2001 02:20:

Glad to hear that you like spinning the same stuff it's nice to know some people have taste (ha ha) To tell the truth you can feel free to name it as you please, I really don't even know what to call dance music anymore EVERYONE has their own terms and what one person calls one thing another calls something different. I just like to say I play "music I like"
And I have to agree with you I do need to spin in Vancouver I've been trying to forever!! I grew up in Portland, OR and I love Vancouver so much (the few times I went up there), I just can't get someone to commit to booking me
You sure it's frattboy I triple checked that because I wasn't so sure...
cheers!

Posted by patticus on Oct-17-2001 04:03:

i think its frattboy cuz its listed as such on tiesto's magik 6.. although they did mess up the title for the fire & ice (calling silent cry instead "forever young")

so maybe that's not the guarantee. anyways i was surprised because i spun the *actual* north pole track recently so i was like *whoa*'
heh

anyways yes it doesnt seem like "music we like" is that big here in van, yet.. that's probably why... unfortunately..

Posted by RavingLunatic on Oct-19-2001 00:25:

Yeah Vancouver seems to be all about Hard House these days, which is not the kind of music I like either.

I like the deep trance progressive stuff..

I agree with dj rapture though, there is no point in even trying to name it.. it's good stuff, nuff said.

I'm currently trying to set rapture up to play a party in my town, which is 4 hours north east of vancouver.

as for the mysterious track at the beginning of Magick6 I have 2 mp3s, exactly the same track 10:45 in length, one is called Afterburn - Fratty Boy, and the other is called Afterburn - NorthPole.

it's been confusing me too. but anyway, it's a great track.

Do you like other kinds of music too patticus? I'm only asking because I will be coming to Vancouver November 7th to see Tool.

Posted by patticus on Oct-19-2001 01:36:

hm, not so much man... pretty much just trance etc. nowadays

what town are you in?

hehe yeah i was just making fun of all the genre namers b4

Posted by RavingLunatic on Oct-19-2001 01:50:

I'm from kamloops..

genre shmenre.
