Election time again
With so much bullshit going around here these days, lets put some of that egotistical (my E-Pen0r is bigger than yours) to some good use. And salvage some of that intellect if any and place it in here regarding the up and coming election.
Which person is best suited for the job?
Is your mind made up already?
Do you even vote?
Also does anyone vote on the policies that each party brings out?
im voting Howard.
i just dont think latham can cut it

Don't really care about the Lower House, just make sure you vote for the Dems in the senate. This goes for Liberal voters too: if the Dems lose enough seats, then it's the Greens who will hold the balance of power there. Wouldn't you prefer to have us there instead?

ok i come from a strong liberal background / family, but im really at a loss as to who to vote.
Liberal: they fucked up with the whole war thing, i cant support them because of that.
Labour: have good policies for environment, health, education. I went and heard Peter Garret speak few weeks ago - but Labour will also be for things that im against.
Greens: well u'd think i would be voting for them - but no, although im pretty much a hippy when it comes to environmental issues, they also support things that i dont.
Democrats: are they even worth considering? really?
So im still deciding.

Im voting based on my profession
liberals have royally fucked up medicare, less incentives to bulk bill meaning a back log of non-severe cases in the emergency departments. Why is there a 6-8 hr wait to get a bed let alone to see a doctor, because people front to triage with minor things
Its a big ask to improve health and health care but atm i dont see the liberals doing that.

What I vote won't matter... my seat has always been liberal, and will (unfortunatly) always be liberal.
Damn old rich people that live in my area, I may as well piss my vote against the wall.... DEMOCRATS it is.
Some young liberal policies i digged up from their website.
*SHOCK* (this is what they are drumming into their future liberal leaders)
The NSW Young Liberal Movement:
Opposes Affirmative Action.
Supports the full privatisation of Telstra.
Opposes the trials of heroin injecting rooms.
Believes that the Federal Government should protect marriage as an institution between husband and wife.
Supports the privatisation of the ABC and SBS.
Calls on the NSW Division to continue the approach of not preferencing parties which support the legalisation of drugs in all future Federal, State and Local Government elections.
Calls on the Federal Government to remove service delivery from ATSIC's control, restructure ATSIC to become an advocacy and policy body, dismiss the current ATSIC board and replace it with a smaller more accountable board, return responsibility and funding for the delivery of basic services to the appropriate State or Commonwealth Government department.
Supports John Howard's handling of the Iraq crisis.
Supports Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU).
Supports work-for-the-dole.
Condemns the actions of those asylum seekers who destroyed Commonwealth property in detention centres and calls for their immediate deportation.
Calls upon the Federal Government to revoke the tax -exempt status of all donations over $2 to Greenpeace.
Supports the NSW Liberals policy to introduce school codes of discipline that would ban swearing at teachers, the use of mobile phones or CD players in class and enforce the wearing of uniforms.
Believes our uranium reserves must be utilised for Australias maximum benefit.
study enough politics at uni so really couldn't be bothered to get into any form of political discussion in the place where I usually come to get away from it all, BUT I am voting greens simply because they have a plan in place for the decriminalisation of our little best friend, Mr E!
There's no fookin' way that i would ever vote for Howard.

yay for legalisation, go greens, you buncha mushroom eating tree hugging hippies

for the first time i aint voting at all. I disagree vehemently with latham's plan to pull out of iraq, and no matter what is happening in the world i shall never lower myself to vote for the "liberals".
and as for the independents, they just push my preference one way or the other. so on ballot day i shall enjoy not having to leave the house.
