Exclamation Tiësto - Parade Of The Athletes

taken from tiesto.com newsletter

Friday the 13th of August, the world’s biggest sports event has taken place. After the opening ceremony, everybody agreed that this was one of the most creative and beautiful opening ceremonies, the history of the Olympics has ever known. One performance during the opening amazed billions of people around the world. That night in Athens, Tiësto became the first DJ ever to play during the Official Olympic Opening Ceremony. This event everybody around the world was talking about has been the highlight in the career of Tiësto until now.

Due to all the positive reactions we received on this unique performance at the Opening Ceremony, we’ve decided to release this DJ set for everybody. Tiësto wants to share the special feeling that he felt during his performance in the Olympic Stadium.

The CD will be released on October 18th and the rest of the world will follow shortly. The CD will contain 8 completely new tracks specially made for this event and 4 well known tracks, which Tiësto really wanted to play at the ceremony. The complete tracklist is as following:

Tiësto - Parade Of The Athletes (Magik Muzik CD 04)
1. Heroes
2. Breda 8pm (DJ Montana Edit)
3. Ancient History
4. Traffic
5. Euphoria
6. Athena
7. Olympic Flame
8. Lethal Industry
9. Coming Home
10. Adagio For Strings
11. Victorious
12. Forever Today

As we did with Tiësto’s latest artist album “Just Be”, Black Hole Recordings is pressing a 4 x 12” white and blue coloured vinyl album, containing the 8 new tracks on 1 side each:

Tiësto - Parade Of The Athletes (Magik Muzik LP 04)
A. Heroes
B. Breda 8pm (DJ Montana Edit)
C. Ancient History
D. Euphoria
E. Athena
F. Olympic Flame
G. Coming Home
H. Victorious

To make it possible to share his music with as many people as possible and because there are a couple of earlier released tracks, the CD will be available for a nice price!

Good job Tijs, more capitilization. I didn't catch the set. How was the mixing? Is he going to remix it?

i.e Tijs wants to cash in on playing the Olympics for free and after his record sales went thru the roof, he wants more coin.

Note to bandwagoners:
We all know you hate Tiësto, he can't mix and this is just another album to make money with... so just save it, OK?

Now...
This definitely looks interesting... haven't heard all those tunes yet but looks like a solid package.

Edit:
I was late, the retards beat me to it.

Posted by sandstorm03 on Sep-10-2004 17:14:

the 4x12 could be nice

Posted by eulerfx on Sep-10-2004 17:15:

If its Tiesto, at least a couple of those will be good, so I'm happy. I'm not too impressed with "Heroes" though. Havent heard the others.

Bandwagoners. Ha ha. I used to love him, but then I started to mix myself and my ear tuned itself. I didn't start disliking him to follow others. If I were a bandwagoner I would kiss his ass. He's the number one dj in the world.

But seriously. How can you say this isn't just a cash in opportunity?

Retards? A retard is someone who listens to his sloppy crap and still thinks he's fantastic.

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-10-2004 17:27:

Still if you could cash in and make more money for your g.f to spend on clothes and you to buy more fancy cars and stuff, why not....I'd probably do it, if I was a deejay. The olympics was the ultimate publicity that money just cannot buy. You play for free yet you play to 2 Billion people watching on television, Tiesto can't mix or play decent sets but he ain't stupid, he certainly saw an opportunity and took it. I doubt he needs any more money, I assume he is rich as can be but what's wrong with getting money for your retirement in 25 years. The Olympics only comes around every four years, so let Tiesto cash in, I have no problem with that.

I understand it too, and it is a special event. If he sells the live cd, even if it's flawed, I would respect it more. I still think he's a fantastic programmer and he has great records. I just wish he'd hone his skills a bit, but he got there somehow and I'll always have memories from his old sets. I just can't believe I never heard the mistakes back then. Oh, to be naive again.

It's a popularity contest, not based on skills.

See, people have this thing called an opinion. You don't have to like the same things they do but that gives you no right to state your own opinions as facts.

Edit:
However, my main point was that we've had way too many threads lately completely ruined deliberately by the same people over and over again. So instead of turning this thread to a yet another burning fireball of flames we could just save it...

Posted by Dave Piazza on Sep-10-2004 17:37:

I really dont care if hes cashing in or getting more p#ssy or whatever.

I like these tunes alot from what I heard on the Olympics( that sounds weird to say ) I am a very honest Tiesto fan. When he sucks Ill be honest and say he sucks. But on the same note when hes good Ill be honest and say hes good. And these vinyl records are honestly HOT ITEMS!!

Plus its on 4 colored vinyls. So even if you think it sucks you can use them to add some color to your record bag

Fair enough. But if someone is gonna come on the attack, then I'm gonna defend. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I'm not saying Tiesto doesn't have any good points. His track selection and programming are phenomenal. He doesn't bring the same sound every time or throughout a whole set. And if he is trying to capitalize and make money off this, so be it. He's obviously a good business man. My only complaint is that he releases so many cd's that he doesn't take the time to perfect them. I don't wanna hear software cover-ups on a 15-20 dollar cd, and I have, Nyana for one. I just think he's losing track of what's it's about and going for the quick buck. If you don't agree, I'll respect that, but think about what I'm saying. I'm not trying to ruin the thread, and don't want to start a crazy ass argument. I just enjoy debating the issues, calmly and rationally. I apologize if anyone takes offense, and would appreciate the elimination of assaults, like calling someone a retard. I shouldn't have fired back, sorry.

Edit- Dave - Agreed on colored vinyl being tight.

BTW - I'm not trying to post my opinion as fact. Whether he is good or not is gauged on many things. However, it is a fact that he mixes sloppily on many occasions. If there are apparent beat match errors that cannot be argued. On the other mixes I consider sloppy, it is merely my opinion.

I see your point(s) and respect them even if I don't agree with all of them. I do think Tiësto can be a bit of a hit and miss, though. He's always been that way, really, it's just that noone seemed to mind until he got as big as he is now...

Well I'm definitely goin' to buy the 4x 12¨ set because I missed the 'Just Be' 12¨ ed. It seems there is only one song on the album I like so I'm not goin' to buy this one for the music, but for the cool coloured discs. Tiësto sure knows how to please everybody (even if they don't like his music).

I've tried saying that a couple times, lately, and people don't seem to get it.

We know you dislike him, for one or perhaps multiple reasons. Now shut-up about it, because we have hundreds of topics in Music Discussion, CD Reviews, and Tracklists that have nothing to do with Tijs. They're carried-on without flames, and actually go with the original idea of the thread. Take a look at all of the Tiësto topics from this year and late 2003 in all three of those sections, and look at what's been said about him.

It would be nice if we could have normal discussion about Tiësto just like other threads with other DJs, rather than listening to the same shit we hear in every thread that barely mentions his name.

You hate Tiësto, some people like him and they want to carry on a meaningful discussion. Get the fuck over it.

Just wanna say, I do think Tiesto is a hit and miss DJ, afew years ago he was better, I ain't a fan of his really, but if he makes a track I like, I'll give him respect for that and buy it, if a track is good, then its good regardless of who makes it, honestly if Britany Spears made Xpander instead of Sasha, would you still but it?, I would, and if he is tryin to cash in with these releases, who cares, we don't have to but them, anyway this is just my 2.5 cents.

Posted by flavdave on Sep-10-2004 18:42:

I haven't heard any of the new tracks, so I'm looking forward to this. If I like the tracks then I'm hoping that Magik Muzik or Nettwerk release regular black vinyl like they did with the Just Be tracks.
