Dido becoming the next Sarah McLachlan in terms of having so many tunes remixed?
I think so.
What say you?
Currently listening to: Dido - Sand in My Shoes (Above & Beyond's UV mix)
Sarah's remixes are brilliant, many classics, i think dido remixes are a little more forgettable, as she dosnt have such a powerful voice (sorry tta).
Dido still has a great voice though.
I can agree to that, to a certain extent. I probably like more Dido remixes than you do, though. If you get the chance, check out that Dido tune that I listed in my first post. You can find it on Above & Beyond's Global DJ Broadcast that they did, last sunday. It's the third track. This is now my new favorite Dido track.
But like what the topic is speculating at, we may see more Dido classics in the future. Give her some time.

dido has always gotten her songs remixed just b/c of her connection to ppl among the indutry. her brother is part of Faithless and she had lended her voice to few of their tunes including salva mae.
*Dido - Thank You (Deep Dish White Label Mix A)
*Dido - Take My Hand (Rollo & Sister Bliss Remix)
*Dido - Take My Hand (Brothers In Rhythm Mix)
*Dido - Stoned (Deep Dish Remix)
*Dido - stoned (spiritchaser Remix)
*Dido - White Flag (Beginerz Mix)
*Dido - Here With Me (DJ Evilian vs. Rollo Breakbeat Mix)
*Dido - Sand In My Shoes (Beginerz Vocal Mix)
*Dido - Don't Leave Home (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
these are just few examples. my point being, her musical origin is strongly and firmly rooted in electronica.
Sarah McLachlan... made her big break in the EDM scene when she lent her voice to Delerium for Silence which got streams of remixes one after another. which then led her to release her Remix album. note, many of the songs on her remix album is from her Tumbling Towards Ectasy album which was the album prior to her Surfacing album which mde names for her...
both singers have gotten remixes but i dont think their popularity is something that should be compared. i dont think dido is taking the crown away from sarah. shes just gotten a longer history w/ EDM and the fact that shes releasing singles more consistantly than sarah. she prolly also getting far more promotion from her label than sarah. hence why there havent been too many single cuts off sarahs after glow album.
my $0.02
They both are'nt stupid, Mclachlan has a smart label and she is smart in allowing it as well because she sees that it creates new fans for her music. She did what Alanis would not do and made more fans, more money and got her music to a wider audience
Dido's big break was doing the voice for Stan, that got her the recognition. She's still known in Europe for being the sister of Rollo Armstrong. Personally I love both of them and as long as they keep it smart then I don't care how many remixes they do, just don't allow shite remixers like a&b to do that
plus the fact that dido was originally signed on cheeky which is a dance label
plus she is hot and can sing (unlike 90% of the vocalists used in music these days)

i don't think i've ever heard a remix of either of their tunes that i liked more than the original versions...
I'd hit it.
I'll admit that Dido is one of the few pop artists I like, hell I even have her first album, so it doesn't surprise me that her songs are getting remixed by so many dance artists!

Its down to Nettwerk asking artists to remix the vocal tunes. Nothing more, nothing less

I love Dido and Sarah Mclachlan !!!!!
Their voices are just perfect. Each trance remix with them singing is GOLDEN.
These women examplify beauty not only in vocal tone but in lyrical form as well.
I think Dido's tracks are very universal and can be remixed very well.
Sarah's tracks were also pretty simple and got the most by the vocals. The tracks without here voice would be nothing at all (as with most tracks ofcourse), you know what I'm saying?
My favourite of Sarah's remixes ar definitly:
Sweet Surrender (Tiesto Remix)
Fallen (Gabriel & Dresden Anti-Gravity Remix)
Plenty (Fade Remix)
Dido's remixes are great too and not by the least: Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden... Quality!
I like one of the remixes of Sand In My Shoes, can't remember which one, it's kinda prog-trancy. It's not A&B anyway. I liked Stan too. Other than that I find Dido's music really boring and bland, then again I've not heard the Deep Dish mix of Stoned that got a lot of hype, it might be good...
this thought occured to me only yesterday, i think dido - the remixes album should be released just like sarah mclachlans. although i gotta say sarahs voice wipes the floor with didos but dido still makes good songs
my 2 cents
