Producers of the year... I nominate DUMONDE

Can anyone possibly disagree? Every production and remix that they've come out with this year so far has been QUALITY... and there have been a hell of a lot of 'em... as you can tell from all the Dumonde threads around here

I dare ya to disagree

Above and Beyond made some good ones earlier in the year and ferry corsten is always tops. Tiesto had at least two great hits...... its a tough competition.

*whisper* Din Daa Daa (Dumonde Remix) wasn't that good *whisper*

Yeah, Dumonde have been really active this year. I'll have to agree w/ u.

As for good tunes by Dumonde this year, here's what I've come up with:

Dumonde- Never Look Back
Barthezz- On the Move (Dumonde Remix)
Marc Aurel- The Sun (Dumonde Remix)
Angelic- Can't Keep Me Silent (Dumonde Remix)
Ayumi Hamasaki- Trauma (Dumonde Remix)
Airplay- Music is Moving (Dumonde Remix)
and of course, my favorite:

Dumonde vs. Lange- Memory

Come on, now... not even Dumonde can save a Pulsedriver production... it's like making a trance remix of a jazz song... it just can't be done

A&B have put out some decent stuff, but none as big as most of Dumonde's productions...

Ferry does come a close second

I wouldnt nominate anyone special. I seem to be listening to more old songs than new these days...... hmmmm. BTW Dumonde has been good but not amazing.

Dumonde have been really good, buyt keep in mind there were 2 bad Dumonde remixes!

Pulsedriver "Din Daa Daa" or whatever it was called (Dumonde Remix) was terrrible.

Fragma "Everytime You Need Me" (Dumonde Remix) - Nobody could possibly save this pile of junk! I can't believe Dumonde remixed it!

Other than these two atrocities there has been Dumonde vs Lange "Memory" which was great and Ayumi Hamasaki "Trauma" (Dumonde Remix)!

-producer of the year-

Since it is producer of the year remixes shouldn't count. How many good productions have Dumonde done this year? And do they compare to the likes of Flight 643 and Urban Train? or perhaps Marco V's Indicator, Simulated, and Godd? or other producer's that have had some great titles earlier this year, Schiller, Blank and Jones, Armin Van Buuren probably leaving out a bunch. This is a very difficult year to pick a best producer. I love Dumonde but just playing a little devils advocate since most of Dumondes good stuff tends to be remixes not productions. This year good Dumonde Production that comes to mind is "Never Look Back"

damn!!

I just started looking through my tracks from this year and I almost forgot Picotto has had another great year of producing but what's new there The man is a genius.

Posted by Xavier on Oct-02-2001 15:09:

The ones you said are my choice as well, i'd probably add in DJ Scot Project
Dumonde,DJ Scot Project,Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten

but that is every year. seriously, he always puts together a few materpieces a year, under many different names. also... just because dumonde have remixed sooo many tunes, doesn't make them the greatest. i'm tired of their sound myself. everyone on here brags about their latest remix, then when I hear it, it's usually disappointing. the Lange remix to Memory was far better than the more commercial sounding Dumonde remix. tiesto's flight 643 should be worst track of the year. it's downright garbage.

This song was made in 2000 so it doesn't count, and their remix was WAY better than the original song. It's not half as bad as "Din Daa Daa" is, I don't think they should have released that!

Productions:

Dumonde- Never Look Back
Dumonde vs. Lange- Memory

two killer tunes

you do have a point though...maybe they should get the title "remixers of the year"?

Couldn't agree with you more. Both those songs are solid.
Their other remixes i could do without, for the most part.
It's not about quantity, it's all about quality.
Peace.

Their remixes this year are quality too though, take Marc Aurel- The Sun (Dumonde Remix) for example.

Why not? Remixes are still productions.

Posted by Mark on Oct-03-2001 02:37:

ok since remixes do count. i'll just throw my biased opinion around. i'll nominate *cough* svenson & gielen aka airscape.

safri duo - played alive (airscape remix)
safri duo - samb adagio (airscape remix)
matanka - lost in a dream
ultra - free (airscape remix)
push - the legacy (airscape remix)

*svenson & gielen - twisted

haven't heard twisted yet but we'll find out if its good or bad on october 20th since its the anthem of trance energy

I do agree. Airscape remixes are some of the best this year. I quite like their remix of Dario G's Dream To Me, too.

They could have been the worst producers of the year. All of their remixes are very predictable and outdated sounding!

Yes it was way better than the original but the original was the chessiest, nastiest thing ever classed as "trance". This remix may have been way better but it still wasn't good. Maria Rubia's awful voice would kill the best track in the world so they Dumondde could never save it! And I personally think it's worse than "Din Daa Daa".
