Orkidea has been one of Finland's leading trance and progressive DJs
for a remarkable 11 years. He is known in trance circles but also incorporates more housy sounds, breaks, acid, electro or whatever fits into his inspiring sets..
An international reputation that has led him to venues like Tresor (Berlin, Germany), Pacha (Ibiza, Spain), Turbine (Stockholm, Sweden), Tunnel (St.Petersburg, Russia), Wintergalactic & State (Toronto), Viva Nightclub(Toronto) and headlining WEMF 2003 alongside BT -- there is no doubting his ability to perform.
He has released numerous singles & remixes for labels like Black Hole, Vandit, Perfecto and Hooj Choons. These productions have been supported by many icons in the dance music industry, namely Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Sasha. His monthly radio show on Finnish National Radio has been a success as has his record label, Unity which hit the UK top 40 with Slusnik Luna's euphoric 'Sun' track.
Always one to please the crowd, his last appearance in Toronto was a
remarkable display of the versatility he has when behind the decks.

and it was my first TA gig other than Tiesto at the Docks.

state 01 `dj orkidea (november 10th) 2001 <--- first party ever
Boa `dj orkidea (november 12th) 2004 <--- almost 3 years later
same dj, almost the same night, 3 years after my first party ever
What is it about Orkidea that unites (and reunites) Tranceaddicts more than any other dj? Especially those of us who've been kicking around for a few years. Is it his diverse djing style yet still stays true to trance? I dunno, but this is one party not to miss. Last time I saw him was at Afterlife, but I bet this will be better (given the club and soundsystem)...yet will this compare to State '01?? That was one of my first parties, and a lot of people seem to have had that night etched into their clubbing memories forever...I think that this would be a great party to bring someone who you want to expose to the scene, maybe it will have the same effect on them.
^^^ yeah...it was probably my first big party too, having stuck to the club scene more before then (Limelight Sunday nights with DJ Iain!).
I *clearly* remember finally escaping the ticket booth for a while and walking across the dancefloor as Orkidea's own remix of 'Alanis Morissette - Uninvited' knocked me on my ass. wikked tune!
I dunno why that has stuck in my head this long...and so clearly...but I still get goosebumps anytime I play that track
