Exclamation The bombing of Afghanistan has begun.

The bombing has begun.
Several targets have already been hit.
Read it on CNN, Reuters, any news site.

Posted by mindshooter on Oct-07-2001 18:36:

I jsut heatrd it on the news....they say they bombed military targets but who knows.....We cant always believe what the media tells us....
We should believe what we know not what we see on the TV.....

What does ppl think...was it right or wrong to bomb?

Posted by Eugene on Oct-07-2001 18:45:

Well, mindshooter, you're from Sweden, a "peace-loving" country where everything has been well, life is good and prosperous.

And the USA was also just like that, if not more so... until Sept. 11. Then everything changed.

Think about how you would feel if the comfortable and peaceful Sweden was rocked by a terrorist attack killing thousands and thousands of innocent people, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't think you would be asking the question that you did.

Posted by Miss Proximus on Oct-07-2001 18:54:

Why would you not ask yourself that question?

I think it's stupid just to assume that these bombings are correct becasue the GREAT america has been hit...geezz...ever thought of the fact that this won't help? you can't go bomb everything the minute some terrorist attacks you....what about the people that live in the bombed area? what about the animals? and to think this is all justified even though christianity is such a big deal in the us...what ever happened to turning the other cheek? respecting fellow man...stuff like that?

Yeah.......I never said that USA deserved the terror attack...neither did i say that USA did the wrong thing by bombing Afghanistan.....
I think its ok if the targets IS very specified and only hits terrorist camps and stuffs altough i doubt it is!
Who knows? We will just have to wait and see.....last time USA bombed they "missed" and hit a hospital......

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Oct-07-2001 19:12:

yeah...im pretty sure they're really bombing them...but i think they're trying to minimize casualties...did u hear abt the part where they're planning to supply rations to the ppl. even during the war...

surprisingly, we haven't heard of any civilian casualties....yet..

peace

What I meant by that is that it has never experienced the full scope of any of the world wars, for example, and bloodshed on its soil has been rare.

Miss Proxi, yes you would still ask that question but if it happened close to you the answer would be much more clear you would feel yourself in more imminent danger.

I think it's clear that most citizen of coutries other than the US know what could be happening to them and they take that into account...the difference with the US is, that you people have always felt that you are the best, strongest, bravest, safest (etc ) country in the world, and that's why nobody ever saw anything coming.

my point is...i would never feel the same way that americans are feeling now because i am not so damn stuck up when it comes to the safety of my country...

Posted by cweb on Oct-07-2001 19:52:

First of all: Miss Proximus, would you please marry me? Seriously, I support your ideas. We will have to wait and see (and not through america-propaganda-cnn) what exactly the US bomb and what their targets are. But somehow I'm a bit confident, because its like the first time the US has been attacked itself, and perhaps they realise that they HAVE TO look for real reasons, and not bombing a country to stone age, when its already there. But as i have learned these days, THRUST NO ONE! And it make me sick, how especially the fucking tony blair asshole, crawls directly into doublejius ass. It seems, that everytime the US bomb st away, the british gov. is really happy and joined without even thinking for themselves. Sorry to all you brits (and of course us-citizens too), its by no means an insult to you, you=the folk, lol, have not the power, some elite have. And I really hate politicians (fuck them all, fuck for example this schrder-dumbfuck). I mean these attacks on the WTC are some really bad bullshit, and they have to die (but first you habve to find them!), but this assholes of western politicians act like they are the GOOD, but they are perhaps as evil as these other forces (not the same way, and of course not this obviously). The money and the economie has way too much power these days, look at my local swissair debacel, just because some asshole bankiers. And I wanted to study ecomie myself, perhaps I should reconsider this decision and study something useful, like how to help animals survive. I hate those guys, I have to stop here.

Miss Proxi... no offense but this is not a very intelligent post... Whatever you say is just words, typed an ocean away at that. It doesn't matter whether you're "stuck up about your country", the point is that if a massive murderous act occurred close to you or involved someone you know you would feel very strongly about possible retaliation (by the way, retaliation that is well-planned and aims to minimize casualties).

By the way I wasn't even born in America, I came here a few years ago.

Did you ever stop to think that there are people on this planet that don't think about retaliation? A girl was raped and murdered a few years ago, in a village not far from where i live...and what did her parents do? They did not swear they would retaliate, they helped with the investigation as much as they could, and even though the whole village was blaming some guy and stalking him...they didn't do anything, because they knew that it was not right to attack someone, especially not when you are not sure whether he did commit this crime...

and please, don't try to drag me down by quoting 1 phraze out of a whole story and then telling it wasn't intelligent to say...

ehh, how the hell can yo compare those two things with eachother....??? so irrelevant to eachother, the WTC-attack was an attack against a whole nation and actually against all the western countries, cause they caused a financial crisis all over the world

Exactly.

By the way, demagoguery is a bad thing. Just thought I'd say that.

But this was alot of "important" americans......
Since no-one quoted my last reply i take it as i had a point there....

Posted by Miss Proximus on Oct-07-2001 20:50:

hey guys, it's fine by me if you want to live your violent lifes the way you do

and i'm not even highly surprised that you can't make that comparison between those 2 things, because you are thinking way to general about all this....a well....nevermind because i can't express myself the way i want to sjeesh grrrrrr my english keeps failing on me whenever i try to discribe how i feel.....would it be psychological?

This is basically as far removed from the Sept. 11 reality as you can get. I sincerely wish, mindshooter, that you'll be equally far removed from tragedy like this throughout your life.

This is how many Americans used to think about Israel and the Palestinians before Sept. 11. "Yes, those terrorist explosions at restaurants are pretty bad, but why does it concern me? - a lot of people die in painful ways..." They don't think like that anymore...

Miss P. have it in Dutch, in the Holland Forum, we have a little discussion about it too.........so you can express your feelings about it in your best language

demagoguery is the action of saying a lot of things, of preaching a lot of things but not doing anything towards making those words facts! (well this is the best definition I can give..)

I have to hold my comments to myself. I have posted stuff about this all around the forums, where threads abouu 9/11 where made. the kind of thing america faced on that day was something amy person a little open-minded could have seen coming. and will happen again if usa won't stop interfering world wide (the word would be Universal Cop).

and these attacks against Taliban are pretty much just a proof of raw violence. it is true that at this point they might be easy to get, but in order to finish off terrorism, usa should kill not only Osama Bin Laden but every single muslim that celebrated on 9/11. because they do not stop when the leader is dead, they stop when they all are dead.

and I doubt USA or anyone has either the power or the RIGHT to do so! no matter the reason?

All i say is that im not sure America will only hit Military target and the media will tell that they DID wheter they did it or not....

And i also think that we shouldn think more of ppl just because they are americans or just because they have better jobs......

Posted by mindshooter on Oct-07-2001 22:07:

Ok...w8...one more thing.......

The reason why the terrorists attacked the US must be cause they KNOW that the US and the whole WORLD will get pissed right?

They know that US is so proud and wants to keep theyr pride....
They can stand on theyr own feets etc etc......what bush didnt even mention in his speech was that he had help from several europena countries! He didnt mention sweden even though we sent resuce personell to help the amreican poeple! INstead he said something about that they could handle this and that they can stand on theyr own feet......

Off course US was the main target!!

Imagine this:

Hostage situation

100 hostages... Terrorist demands 100.000.000$ for the hostages.....
Otherwise all of them will get shot......ok.......Bush says:
We dont care...shotem all..... After the killing the police goes in and arrests all the terrorists......

Would terrorists EVER take hostages in the US again?

Posted by lMIlk on Oct-07-2001 22:14:

kinda off topic but, if terroists in a hostage situation actually get the money, how do they get away without being arrested?

what, U think of getting in this "job"? they usually ask for helicopters or they take hostages and free them when they think they are safe.

yeah, USA has a lot of pride. and more and more ppl begin to hate them as acting like the best fukin' country in the world. this just prooves how weak they are... and I am SURE that Osama Bin Laden has a backup something... he wouldn't have messed with the americans for nothing, especially knowing they will fight back.
this is my biggest fear!
